<span class="mw-page-title-main">Pedro Aguirre Cerda</span> Chilean politician

Pedro Abelino Aguirre Cerda was a Chilean political figure, educator, and lawyer who served as the 22nd president of Chile from 1938 until his death in 1941. A member of the Radical Party since 1906, he was chosen by the left-wing Popular Front coalition as its candidate for the 1938 presidential election and won. He had previously served as deputy for San Felipe, Putaendo and Los Andes from 1915 to 1918, Minister of the Interior from January to September 1918 under president Juan Luis Sanfuentes, deputy for Santiago from 1918 to 1921, Minister of Justice and Public Instruction from 1920 to 1921 under president Arturo Alessandri, and senator for Concepción from 1921 to 1927. He died two years and eleven months into his presidency on November 25, 1941, at the age of 62, from tuberculosis.

Presidential elections were held in Chile in 1915. They were a bitter contest between Juan Luis Sanfuentes – a Coalition candidate of the Liberal Party and Conservative Party – and Javier Ángel Figueroa – supported by the Liberal Alliance parties. Sanfuentes beat Figueroa by a single vote in the electoral vote, with numerous allegations of fraud and electoral intervention. Due to the controversy, the National Congress made a contingent vote, which Sanfuentes won by 77 votes to 41.

Buen Soldado is the second studio album by Chilean-American singer-songwriter Francisca Valenzuela. Feria Music released it on March 3, 2011 in Chile. The bilingual artist achieved success in both North and South America with her debut album, 2007's Muérdete la Lengua. She wrote and recorded the album while taking a gap year from her collegiate studies in Santiago. The album was preceded by the upbeat lead single "Quiero Verte Más", which was released on January 1, 2011. The song's brisk mix of pop, folk and 1960s go-go presaged the album's lighthearted tone. The album was certified gold in Chile in January 2013 for sales of 5,000 copies or more.

Elisa Correa station is an elevated metro station located on the overhead section of Line 4 of the Santiago Metro, in Santiago, Chile. It is named after the street where it is located, the junction of Elisa Correa Sanfuentes Street to the west, Los Toros Venue to the east and Vicuña Mackenna Avenue to the north and Concha y Toro Avenue to the south.

The Conjunto Virginia Opazo is an architectural ensemble designed by architect Luciano Kulczewski, which is located in the Barrio República, in downtown Santiago, Chile. It consists of 33 two-story terraced houses. The residential subdivision was inaugurated in 1944, and was declared as a National Monument of Chile on November 10, 1992, within the category of Zona Típica.
