The ITF Grand Prix Circuit was a professional tennis tour for male players founded in 1970 as the ILTF Grand Prix Tennis Circuit it ran annually until 1989 when it and WCT Circuit were replaced by a single world wide ATP Tour.

World Championship Tennis (WCT) was a tour for professional male tennis players established in 1968 and lasted until the emergence of the ATP Tour in 1990. A number of tennis tournaments around the world were affiliated with WCT and players were ranked in a special WCT ranking according to their results in those tournaments.

The 1989 Nabisco Grand Prix was the only tennis circuit for male players held that year. It incorporated the four Grand Slam tournaments, one World Championship Tennis tournament and the Grand Prix tournaments.

The Milan Indoor, also known under various sponsored names, was a men's professional tennis tournament founded in 1973 as the ATP Milano Indoors an indoor carpet court event, that was the successor event the Milano International Indoors an indoor wood court tournament. In 1978 the event was revived as the Milan Indoor and held until 2005 when it was branded as the International of Lombardy or Internazionali di Lombardia. It took placed in Milan, Italy with the exception of three years (1998–2000) when it was held in London, United Kingdom. The event was part of the Grand Prix circuit (1981–89) and ATP Tour (1990–2005) and was played on indoor carpet courts, except for the 2000 edition which was played on an indoor hard court. The most successful singles players were John McEnroe and Boris Becker who both won four titles. Stefan Edberg and Roger Federer won the first singles title of their career at the event. A single female edition of the event was held in 1991, won by Monica Seles. Due to a lack of sponsorship the tournament was replaced on the 2006 ATP Tour by the Zagreb Indoors.

The 1985 Nabisco Grand Prix was a professional men's tennis circuit held that year. It consisted of 71 tournaments held in 19 different countries. The tour incorporated the four ITF grand slam tournaments, three World Championship Tennis tournaments and the Grand Prix tournaments. Total prize money for the circuit was $23 million. The circuit was administered by the Men's International Professional Tennis Council (MIPTC). In November 1985 the MIPTC sued player–management agencies ProServ and IMG alleging that these firms were holding the tennis game hostage and were 'exerting extensive power over players'.

The 1988 Suntory Japan Open Tennis Championships was a tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts at the Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo in Japan that was part of the 1988 Nabisco Grand Prix and of the Category 2 tier of the 1988 WTA Tour. The tournament ran from 11 April through 17 April 1988. John McEnroe and Patty Fendick won the singles titles.

On 30 April 1981 World Championship Tennis (WCT) announced its withdrawal from the Grand Prix circuit, which it had been incorporated into since 1978, and the re-establishment of its own tour calendar for the 1982 season. To counter the threat of player leaving the Grand Prix tour for the WCT the MIPTC introduced a mandatory commitment to play at least 10 Grand Prix Super Series tournaments.

The 28 tournaments with prize money of $175,000 or more formed the Super Series category. Jimmy Connors won 10 of the 84 tournaments which secured him the first place in the Grand Prix points ranking. However he did not play enough tournaments (13) to qualify for largest share ($300,000) of the bonus pool, which instead went to third–ranked Eddie Dibbs.

The 1984 Bordeaux Open also known as the Grand Prix Passing Shot was a men's tennis tournament played on outdoor clay courts at Villa Primrose in Bordeaux, France that was part of the 1984 Volvo Grand Prix. It was the sixth edition of the tournament and was held from 17 September until 21 September 1984. Third-seeded José Higueras won the singles title.

The 1984 Japan Open Tennis Championships was a tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts in Tokyo, Japan that was part of the 1984 Volvo Grand Prix and the 1984 Virginia Slims World Championship Series. The tournament was held from 8 October through 14 October 1984. David Pate and Lilian Drescher won the singles titles.

The 1988 Swedish Open, also known as the Volvo (Ladies) Open was a combined men's and women's tennis tournament played on outdoor clay courts held in Båstad, Sweden and was part of the Grand Prix circuit of the 1988 Tour, as well as the Category 1 tier of the 1988 WTA Tour. It was the 41st edition of the tournament and was held from 11 July through 17 July 1988. Marcelo Filippini won the singles title.

The 1984 Seiko Super Tennis Hawaii, also known as the Hawaii Open, was a men's tennis tournament played an indoor carpet courts at the Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu, Hawaii, in the United States that was part of the 1984 Volvo Grand Prix circuit. It was the 11th and last edition of the tournament and was held from September 24 through September 30, 1984. Unseeded Marty Davis won the singles title and earned $20,000 first-prize money as well as 100 Grand Prix ranking points which elevated his ATP ranking from 80th to the mid-50s.

The 1987 Volvo Tennis Los Angeles was a men's tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts at the Los Angeles Tennis Center in Los Angeles, California in the United States that was part of the 1987 Volvo Grand Prix circuit. It was the 61st edition of the Pacific Southwest tournament and was held from September 21 through September 27, 1987. Third-seeded David Pate won the singles title and earned $50,000 first-prize money.

The 1984 Roger et Gallet Cup was a men's tennis tournament played on outdoor clay courts in Florence, Italy that was part of the 1984 Volvo Grand Prix circuit. It was the 12th edition of the tournament and was played from 7 May until 13 May 1984. Seventh-seeded Francesco Cancellotti won the singles title.
