GP3 Series Former Single-Seater Motor Racing Series

The GP3 Series, or GP3 for short, was a single-seater motor racing series launched in 2010 as a feeder series for the GP2 Series, introduced by GP2 organiser Bruno Michel. GP3 followed the entire European leg of the Formula One series and the GP2 series as a support race for the two. Like the GP2 series, GP3 gave drivers the experience of the Grand Prix environment, and took advantage of the infrastructure, such as marshals and medical facilities, in place for the Formula One events. GP3 Series mainly raced on European circuits, but had appearances on other international race tracks as well with their most recent races in the only 2015 season at the Bahrain International Circuit in Bahrain and the Yas Marina Circuit in United Arab Emirates since 2010 season.

2010 Catalunya GP2 and GP3 Series rounds

The 2010 Spanish GP2 round was a GP2 Series motor race held on May 8 and May 9, 2010 at the Circuit de Catalunya in Montmeló, Spain. It was the first race of the 2010 GP2 Season. The race was used to support the 2010 Spanish Grand Prix. It was also the first weekend where GP2's feeder formula GP3 made its début. All teams in GP3 use the same GP3/10 chassis and are powered by a four cylinder 2.0 L 280 bhp turbocharged engine developed by Renault Sport. Jules Bianchi gained pole position for the feature race on his first outing for ART. While in GP3 pole was achieved by Nigel Melker.

Luis Salom Spanish motorcycle racer

Luis Jaime Salom Horrach was a Spanish Grand Prix motorcycle racer. Salom died after a practice accident at Circuit de Catalunya, when making contact with his bike and the wall after a high-speed accident. Racing in the Moto2 class since 2014, he finished 41 races, with 3 podium appearances, including a second-place finish at the 2016 Qatar season opener. At the time of his death, Salom ranked 10th in the 2016 Moto2 Championship point standings. Previously he had competed in Moto3, accumulating nine race victories, finishing 2nd and 3rd in the 2012 and 2013 championships, respectively.
