The 2008 North American SuperLiga was the second edition of the SuperLiga competition. The top four Major League Soccer and Liga MX teams by point totals at the end of the season earned qualification. [1] All games of the tournament were broadcast live on Fox Sports World in Canada (English), Telefutura in the United States (Spanish), and Televisa and TV Azteca in Mexico (both Spanish).

The top four overall Major League Soccer teams from the 2008 season not already qualified for the CONCACAF Champions League earned qualification, as well as four clubs from the Mexican Primera División. All games of the tournament were broadcast live on Fox Sports World in Canada, Telefutura in the United States, and Televisa and TV Azteca in Mexico and an internet stream on the SuperLiga website. UANL won their first title after beating Chicago Fire 4–3 on penalties in the final.

The match determined the winner of the 2008 North American SuperLiga, the second edition of the North American SuperLiga, which was a tournament contested by teams from Major League Soccer and Liga MX. In the 2008 edition, the top four teams from each league qualified based on their point totals at the end of the previous season. The New England Revolution and the Houston Dynamo played the match, and it was a rematch of the 2006 and 2007 MLS Cup finals, which were both won by the Dynamo. The final took place in front of 9,232 supporters and was refereed by Howard Webb from England.
