The 2008 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship was held March 8–15, 2008 in Vierumäki, Finland at the Vierumäki Ice Rink. It was the first mixed doubles world championships organized by the World Curling Federation.

The 2009 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship was held April 18–25, 2009 in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy at the Cortina d'Ampezzo Curling Arena.

2010 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship

The 2010 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship was held in Chelyabinsk, Russia from April 18–24, 2010. The event was held in conjunction with the 2010 World Senior Curling Championships. Many of the teams faced delays or withdrew from the championship due to the air travel disruption after the 2010 Eyjafjallajökull eruption.

2011 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship

The 2011 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship was held at the Saint Paul Curling Club in St. Paul, Minnesota, United States from April 15 to 24, 2011. The event was held in conjunction with the 2011 World Senior Curling Championships.

2012 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship

The 2012 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship was held at the Milli Piyango Curling Arena in Erzurum, Turkey from April 23 to 29. Erzurum previously hosted the 2011 Winter Universiade, during which the Milli Piyango Curling Arena was used for the curling competition. Among the previous hosts of the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championships, Turkey is the nation with the least experience in curling; its curling federation joined the World Curling Federation in 2009. For the first time since 2009, the event was not held in conjunction with the same year's World Senior Championships.

2013 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship

The 2013 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship was held from April 13 to 20 at the newly constructed Grant-Harvey Centre in Fredericton, New Brunswick. The event was held in conjunction with the 2013 World Senior Curling Championships. This event marked the first time that Canada has hosted a World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship since its inception in 2008.

The 2013 Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Trials was held from March 14 to 17 at the Leduc Recreation Centre and the Leduc Curling Club in Leduc, Alberta. The winning team of the trials will represent Canada at the 2013 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship. It is the first ever Canadian Mixed Doubles championship. Previously, two players from the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship winning team were selected to play at the World Mixed Doubles championship.

The 2014 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship were held from April 23 to 30 at the Dumfries Ice Bowl in Dumfries, Scotland. The event was held in conjunction with the 2014 World Senior Curling Championships.

A record forty-eight nations competed in the event, including Kosovo, Mexico, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, and Ukraine competing in their first World Curling Federation events.
