Season summary

Ipswich Town had an average season in the Championship, finishing in ninth place, eight points away from the playoffs. Manager Jim Magilton was sacked in April after three seasons in charge of Ipswich and was replaced by former Sunderland boss Roy Keane.

Kit

Ipswich Town retained the previous season's home kit, manufactured by English company Mitre, although Marcus Evans became the new kit sponsor. An all-red strip with black trimmings was Town's away kit.

The 2010–11 season is Ipswich Town's ninth consecutive season in The Football League Championship, the second-highest division in the English football league system. In addition to competing in The Championship, Ipswich Town are also competing in the League Cup and the FA Cup. Manager Roy Keane was sacked after the defeat to Nottingham Forest in January after a season-and-a-half in charge. First-team coach Ian McParland presided over the FA Cup defeat at Chelsea and the League Cup semi-final 1st leg win over Arsenal before Paul Jewell took over the managerial role on a permanent basis.

The 2010–11 season was Reading's third season back in the Championship, since relegation from the Premier League in 2008. Having become Reading manager in January 2010, this was Brian McDermott's first full season in charge at the club.

During the 2008–09 English football season, Sheffield United F.C. competed in the Football League Championship.

The 2011–12 season was Ipswich Town's tenth consecutive season in The Football League Championship, the second-highest division in the English football league system. In addition to competing in The Championship, Ipswich Town also competed in the League Cup and the FA Cup.

During the 2002–03 English football season, Ipswich Town competed in the First Division, following relegation from the FA Premier League the previous season. Despite being relegated, Ipswich Town had achieved UEFA Cup qualification for the second season running, this time via the UEFA Respect Fair Play ranking.

During the 2004–05 English football season, Ipswich Town competed in the Football League Championship.

During the 2005–06 English football season, Ipswich Town competed in the Football League Championship.

The 2012–13 season is Ipswich Town's eleventh consecutive season in the Football League Championship, the second-highest division in the English football league system. In addition to competing in the Championship, Ipswich Town also competed in the League Cup and the FA Cup.
