The 2012 Trans-Am Series was the 44th season of the Sports Car Club of America's Trans American Road Racing Championship.
From 2012 onward, Trans-Am Race Company, LLC, has managed the series. [1] They will manage the series until at least 2016. They are looking to "bring the series back to its glory years". [2] Their plan is to get away from the new, three-class format and return to the pony cars that made the series famous.
The series also established a media partner, GoRacingTV. Select markets would also be able to view Trans Am races on MAVTV. GoRacingTV was a website providing highlights of various racing events.
It was announced on November 17, 2011, that a new Ford Mustang was in the works for entry into the series during the 2012 season. [3] The car will use the 302 cubic inch (5 liter) engine from the production model.
Though he won only one race, Chuck Cassaro would go on to overcome Tim Gray's four victories and win the GGT Championship by a comfortable 36 points, giving (American manufacturer) Panoz its first ever Trans Am title. With a GGT win at Mid Ohio, courtesy of Belgian driver Jan Heylen, Dodge garnered its first Trans Am victory since 2001.

The Trans-Am Series presented by Pirelli is a sports car racing series held in North America. Founded in 1966, it is sanctioned by the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). Primarily based in the United States, the series competes on a variety of track types including road courses and street circuits. Trans-Am is split into the TA and TA2 classes for silhouette racing cars, while its production classes are the GT, SGT, and XGT.
Team Penske is an American professional auto racing organization, competing in the IndyCar Series, NASCAR Cup Series, IMSA SportsCar Championship and FIA World Endurance Championship. Debuting at the 1966 24 Hours of Daytona, the organization has also competed in various other types of professional racing such as Formula One, Can-Am, Trans Am, FIA World Endurance Championship and Australian Supercars. Altogether, Team Penske has earned over 500 victories and over 40 championships in all of auto racing. Team Penske is a division of Penske Corporation, and is owned and chaired by Roger Penske. The team president is Tim Cindric.
Scott Donald Pruett is a former American race car driver who has competed in NASCAR, CART, IMSA, Trans-Am and Grand-Am. He and his wife Judy have three children and are children's book authors.
William Theodore Ribbs Jr. is a retired American race car driver, racing owner, and sport shooter known for being the first African-American man to have tested a Formula One car and to compete in the Indianapolis 500. Ribbs competed in many forms of auto racing, including the Trans-Am Series, IndyCar, Champ Car, IMSA, and the NASCAR Cup Series and Gander Outdoors Truck Series. After retiring, he became a sport shooter in the National Sporting Clays Association.
Grand American was a NASCAR sanctioned series of pony car stock cars. The series ran from 1968 until 1972. The series was called "Grand Touring" from 1968 to 1969.

The 2012 Rolex 24 at Daytona was a long-distance motor race for sports cars conforming to the regulations of the Grand-Am Road Racing series. The race was held over a duration of 24 hours, starting at 3:30pm on Saturday, January 28, finishing at 3:30pm the following day. The race was held on the sports car version of Daytona International Speedway, which includes only a portion of the NASCAR Superspeedway course and a loop of circuit which winds through the infield of the speedway.
Starworks Motorsport is an American automobile racing team based in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, currently competing in the new for 2014 TUDOR United SportsCar Championship. The team was established in 2010 by Peter Baron and runs a Riley Daytona Prototype and two Prototype Challenge Oreca Chevrolet FLM09 cars.

The 2014 Trans-Am Series was the 46th running of the Sports Car Club of America's Trans-Am Series. It began March 2, 2014. The series featured TA, TA2, and TA3 groups, with TA3 split into two sub-groups. TA3-International was for select cars meeting SCCA GT-2 class rules, while TA3-American Muscle was for current-generation "pony cars" meeting NASA's American Iron class specifications.

The 2020 Trans-Am Series season is the 52nd running of the Trans-Am Series. The National Championship began on March 1 and will run for twelve rounds. Within this championship, a Northern Cup and Southern Cup are also awarded consisting of the point totals from certain rounds for drivers who are not running the full season. A separate West Coast Championship will also be held with some rounds separate from the national series and some together.
Jade Marcus Buford is an American professional racing driver with experience in open-wheel, sports car, and stock car racing. He competes part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 5 Chevrolet Camaro for Big Machine Racing.
The 2021 Trans-Am Series season was the 53rd running of the Trans-Am Series. The National Championship began on February 19 and will run for 14 rounds with one being only for TA2 cars and two only paying points for the Pro/Am Challenge. The Pro/Am Challenge was held for the first time to help SCCA competitors try out Trans Am. Points were given for two specific Pro/Am Challenge races and four other races of competitor's choice in either the national Trans Am Series or the Trans Am West Coast Championship. A separate West Coast Championship was also held with some rounds separate from the national series and some together.
