The 2014 Shenzhen Open was a tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts. It was the second edition of the Shenzhen Open, and was part of the WTA International tournaments of the 2014 WTA Tour. It took place at the Shenzhen Longgang Sports Center in Shenzhen, China, from 29 December 2013 to 5 January 2014. First-seeded Li Na won the singles title.

Angelique Kerber was the defending champion, but she chose not to participate this year.

Li Na was the two-time defending champion, but retired from professional tennis on 19 September 2014.
First-seeded Simona Halep won the title, defeating Timea Bacsinszky in the final, 6–2, 6–2.

Two-time defending champion Serena Williams defeated Carla Suárez Navarro in the final, 6–2, 6–0 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2015 Miami Open. It was her record-extending eighth Miami Open title.

Victoria Azarenka defeated Serena Williams in the final, 6–4, 6–4 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2016 Indian Wells Masters. It was her second Indian Wells title.

Aryna Sabalenka was the defending champion, but lost in the second round to Kristýna Plíšková.

Liudmila Samsonova defeated Belinda Bencic in the final, 1–6, 6–1, 6–3, to win the singles tennis title at the 2021 WTA German Open. Samsonova was contesting her first career final on the WTA Tour and had entered the main draw as a qualifier. Her win made her the 10th maiden titlist on the 2021 WTA Tour and the second qualifier of the season to claim a title.

Barbora Krejčíková and Kateřina Siniaková defeated the defending champion Elise Mertens and her partner Zhang Shuai in the final, 6–2, 6–4 to win the ladies' doubles tennis title at the 2022 Wimbledon Championships. It was their second Wimbledon title together and fifth major title together overall.

Kateřina Siniaková defeated Elena Rybakina in the final, 6–7(4–7), 7–6(7–5), 6–4 to win the singles tennis title at the 2022 WTA Slovenia Open. It was her first singles title since 2017.

Barbora Krejčíková defeated Anett Kontaveit in the final, 6–2, 6–3 to win the singles tennis title at the 2022 Tallinn Open.

Madison Brengle was the defending champion, but lost in the second round to Sofia Kenin.

Vitalia Diatchenko was the defending champion but withdrew before the tournament began.

Petra Kvitová defeated Elena Rybakina in the final, 7–6(16–14), 6–2 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2023 Miami Open. It was Kvitová's first WTA 1000 title since the 2018 Madrid Open, and her 30th career title overall; she also became the first Czech player to win the title. Rybakina was attempting to complete the Sunshine Double, having already won the title at Indian Wells.
