The Qarabağ 2016–17 season is Qarabağ's 24th Azerbaijan Premier League season, of which they are defending champions, and will be their ninth season under manager Gurban Gurbanov. They won the League for the fourth season in a row on 16 April 2017, reaching the final of the Azerbaijan Cup and the group stages of the UEFA Europa League having been eliminated from the UEFA Champions League in the 3rd qualifying round by Viktoria Plzeň on away goals.
The 2017–18 season was Gabala FK's 13th season, and their 12th in the Azerbaijan Premier League, the top-flight of Azerbaijani football. Gabala finished the season in second place, 16 points behind champions Qarabağ. In the Azerbaijan Cup were runners-up for the second year in a row, losing to Keşla 1-0 in the final whilst they also reached the Third qualifying round of the Europa League before being knocked out by Panathinaikos.
The Keşla 2017–18 season was Inter Baku's seventeenth Azerbaijan Premier League season.
The 2017–18 season was Qarabağ's 25th Azerbaijan Premier League season, of which they were defending champions, and was their tenth season under manager Gurban Gurbanov.
The Səbail FK 2017-18 season was Səbail's first Azerbaijan Premier League season, and their second season in existence.
The 2018–19 season was Gabala's 14th season in the Azerbaijan Premier League, the top-flight of Azerbaijani football. The club participated in the Premier League, finishing fourth. They also entered the Azerbaijan Cup, defeating Sumgayit 1-0 to win their first title. They also played in the Europa League, where they were eliminated by Progrès Niederkorn in the first qualifying round.

The Qarabağ 2019–20 season was Qarabağ's 27th Azerbaijan Premier League season, of which they were defending champions, and was their twelfth season under manager Gurban Gurbanov. Qarabağ were crowned Champions for the 7th season in a row when the season was curtailed on 19 June, whilst they had reached the semi-finals of the Azerbaijan Cup when it was ended. In Europe, Qarabağ were knocked out of the Champions League by APOEL in the Third qualifying round, dropping into the Europa League where they finished 3rd in a group with Sevilla, APOEL and Dudelange.

The Qarabağ 2021–22 season was Qarabağ's 29th Azerbaijan Premier League season and their fourteenth season under manager Gurban Gurbanov. As well as the Azerbaijan Premier League, Qarabağ will also participate in the Azerbaijan Cup and the inaugural season of the UEFA Europa Conference League.
The Qarabağ 2022–23 season was Qarabağ's 30th Azerbaijan Premier League season and their fourteenth season under manager Gurban Gurbanov. Domestically, Qarabağ defended their Premier League, their eighth in nine years, and where knocked out of the Azerbaijan Cup by Gabala in the Quarterfinals. In European competition, Qarabağ began in the Champions League, where they reached the Playoff round before defeat to Viktoria Plzeň, meaning they dropped into the Group Stage of the Europa League. In the Europa League they finished third in their group behind SC Freiburg and Nantes, progressing to the Knockout round play-off of the Europa Conference League where they were eliminated by Gent on penalties.
