The 2025 Canadian Premier League season will be the seventh season of the Canadian Premier League, the top level of Canadian soccer. Cavalry FC are the defending champions, having defeated Forge FC in the 2024 final. [1]

The same eight teams that competed in the 2024 season will compete in the 2025 season, though this is expected to be the last season with eight teams, with expansion anticipated for 2026. [2]

Player transfers

According to FIFA, the Canadian Soccer Association's (CSA's) 2025 transfer windows for men's professional teams are open from January 31 to April 23 and from July 24 and to August 21. [7]

Foreign players

Canadian Premier League teams can sign a maximum of seven international players, out of which only five can be in the starting line-up for each match. [9]

The following international players were signed for the 2025 season. Note that players may be considered domestic for CPL purposes (Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or refugees) while still representing other countries in international competitions. [10]

The 2022 Canadian Premier League Final was a soccer match that was the 4th edition of the CPL Finals, the post-season championship of the Canadian Premier League, the top level of Canadian soccer. The match determined the winner of the 2022 Canadian Premier League season and was played on October 30, 2022, in Ottawa, Ontario. It was contested by Atlético Ottawa and Forge FC, the winners of the league's two semifinal matchups. Pacific FC were the defending champions, but were eliminated in the semifinals by Atlético Ottawa.

The 2023 Canadian Premier League season was the fifth season of the Canadian Premier League, the top level of Canadian soccer. The CPL Shield was won by Cavalry FC who finished first in the regular season by a 13 point margin. In the CPL final, Forge FC defeated Cavalry FC 2–1 in Hamilton to capture the North Star Cup. In doing so, Forge became league champions for the fourth time in five seasons. Both title winning clubs qualified for the newly expanded 2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup.
