AeroTACA (acronym of AeroTaxi Casanare) was an airline based in Bogotá, Colombia. It operated charter flights within Colombia and to neighboring countries. [1] Its main base was El Dorado International Airport. [2]
The airline was established and started operations in 1965 as AeroTaxi Casanare by Omar Díaz, based in the city of Yopal. [3] It was wholly owned by the Urdaneta family. [2]
In June 1989, one of its planes crashed in the city of Tame when it was unable to land. After the accident, the airline's facilities were transferred to El Dorado International Airport, and its name was changed to Aerotransportes Casanare. In 1992, the company was authorized to expand its routes to territories that only AIRES covered. [3]
The airline changed its name in 1996 to AeroTACA, with the acquisition of larger aircraft.
Since 2000, the company began to expand throughout the national territory and later signed a technical support contract with the Venezuelan airline Avior Airlines. [3] Following the liquidation of ACES, several regional routes were requested by AeroTACA to operate upon entering the settlement. [4] The company wanted to operate 11 aircraft and cover the entire Colombian territory.
Following the crash of West Caribbean Airways Flight 708 in Venezuela, the Colombian Civil Aviation Authority required that all airlines undergo a special inspection of their maintenance facilities and aircraft. AeroTACA was forced to cease operating in September 2005 after not passing any of the inspections and went into liquidation by the end of 2006, as it was unable to remain financially stable.

El Dorado International Airport is an international airport serving Bogotá, the capital of Colombia, and its surrounding areas. The airport is located mostly in the Fontibón district of Bogotá, although it partially extends into the Engativá district and through the municipality of Funza in the Western Savanna Province of the Cundinamarca Department. It served over 39 million passengers in 2023 making it the second busiest airport in South America and 3rd overall in Latin America in terms of passenger traffic, as well as being the 32nd busiest airport in the world in 2022. With 760,000 metric tons of cargo passing through the same year, it is also Iberoamerica's most important cargo hub. El Dorado is also by far the busiest and most important airport in Colombia, accounting for just under half (49%) of the country's air traffic. The facility covers 1,700 acres (6.9km2) and contains two 3,800m long runways. El Dorado has non-stop international flights to North America, South America, Central America, the Caribbean, Europe, and the Middle East.
TAME or TAME EP Linea Aerea del Ecuador was an airline founded in Ecuador in 1962. TAME was the flag carrier and the largest airline of Ecuador. TAME headquarters were in Quito, Pichincha Province and the main hub was Mariscal Sucre International Airport in Quito. The airline was formed by the Air Force of Ecuador. In 2011, it became a commercial entity and provided domestic, international and charter flights. On May 20, 2020, the Ecuador government decided to cease all the operations and liquidate the airline.

Intercontinental de Aviación S.A. was an airline based in Bogotá, Colombia. It operated domestic services and flights to neighboring countries. Its main hub was located at El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá, with a secondary hub at Alfonso Bonilla Aragón International Airport in Cali. The airline closed operations in 2005.
SATENA is a Colombian airline based in Bogotá, Colombia. It is majority-owned by the Government of Colombia which operates it with a goal of providing connectivity to less connected areas of the country.

Copa announced the creation of Wingo in October 19, 2016 as a replacement for most of its Copa Airlines Colombia business, which had been losing money for several years, and which had lost $29.7 million in the first half of 2016. In November 2019, Wingo announced Carolina Cortizo as their appointed managing director.
AeroTal was a Colombian airline based in the La Vanguardia Airport of Villavicencio. The airline specialized in both regional, domestic and international flights. It was founded in 1970 and completed its entire operations by 1983.
ATC Colombia was a cargo airline created in early 1992 with Colombian partners from the United States and Venezuela. Operating with Douglas DC-8 airplanes, it became the second Colombian cargo company. It ceased its entire operations in 1999.
