Agus Indra Udayana is a social worker from Indonesia. In 2020, he was conferred with the Padma Shri honour by the Government of India for his contributions to the field of social work, particularly for spreading Gandhian values. [1] [2] Udayana has four ashrams in Bali and Lombok that follow the Gandhian principles of non-violence, humanity, and truth. He works with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations to impart and share cultural associations and build dialogue. [1]

Satya Narayan Gourisaria is an Indian born British company secretary, Gandhian and a former secretary of the India League, an Indian independence movement organization founded by V. K. Krishna Menon. He was born on 7 May 1929 at Dhanbad, in the Indian state of Bihar but shifted to East Bengal, then in erstwhile East Pakistan to return to India in 1948, a year after the Indian independence. He did his college studies at Scottish Church College, Kolkata and migrated to United Kingdom in the 1950s to stay there for 61 years. A former company secretary at Douglas Fraser and Sons (London) Limited, Gourisaria has also held the directorship of the now defunct Ashoka Publications. During his stay in London, he is known to have assisted in cultural exchanges by hiring cinemas to show Indian films and bringing Indian film personalities to London for shows, a show by Lata Mangeshkar at the Royal Albert Hall in 1974 being a notable one. He returned to India in 2013. He was honored by the Government of India, in 2000, with the fourth highest Indian civilian award of Padma Shri.

Amalprava Das, also known as Amal Prabha Das, (1911–1994) was an Indian social worker, Gandhian and the founder of Kasturba Ashram at Sarania Hills, Assam, a self help group for women and their economic upliftment and Guwahati Yubak Sevadal, a non governmental organization working for the social development of harijans. The Government of India honoured her in 1954, with the award of Padma Shri, the fourth highest Indian civilian award for her contributions to the society, placing her among the first recipients of the award. A recipient of the 1981 Jamnalal Bajaj Award, Das was honoured again by the Government of India with the second highest civilian award of Padma Vibhushan which she declined to accept.

Natwar Thakkar, popularly known as Natwar bhai, was an Indian social worker who worked in Nagaland. He came from Maharashtra but migrated to Nagaland for social work at the age of 23. He founded the Nagaland Gandhi Ashram at Chuchuyimlang village in the Mokokchung district of Nagaland. Because of his efforts to spread Gandhian philosophy in Nagaland and his social work, he was known as "Nagaland's Gandhi".

Rabindra Nath Upadhyay (1923–2010) was an Indian social worker, Gandhian and the founder of Tamulpur Anchalik Gramdan Sangha (TAGS), a non governmental organization working for the social development of the rural people in the Kumarikata village of Assam. He was a recipient of the 2003 Jamnalal Bajaj Award. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian award of the Padma Shri, in 2000, for his services to the society.

Hema Bharali was an Indian freedom activist, social worker, Sarvodaya leader and Gandhian, known for her contributions for the empowerment of women and efforts towards the upliftment of the socially and financially challenged sections of the society. She was reported to have been active during the relief operations in the wake of the earthquake in North Lakhimpur of Assam state in 1950 and in the development activities after the Sino-Indian War of 1962. The Government of India awarded her the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2005, for her contributions to Indian society. A year later, she received the National Communal Harmony Award from the National Foundation for Communal Harmony, an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Sitaram Seksaria (1892–1982) was an Indian independence activist, Gandhian, social reformer and institution builder from West Bengal, known for his contributions for the upliftment of Marwari community. He was a self-educated man. He was the founder of a number of institutions and organizations, including Shri Shikshayatan, a higher educational institution, Marwari Balika Vidyalaya, a primary school, Samaj Sudhar Samiti, a social organization, Bangiya Hindi Parishad, a literary society dedicated for the propagation and development of Hindi language and literature and Bharatiya Bhasha Parishad, a non governmental organization. For few years he also served as a minister in Azad Hind Fauj. The Government of India awarded him the third highest civilian honor of the Padma Bhushan, in 1962, for his contributions to society. His life story has been compiled in a book, Padma Shri Sitaram Seksaria Abhinandan Granth, edited by Bhawarmal Singhi and published in 1974. He died in 1982.

Zainulabedin Gulamhusain Rangoonwala was the co-founder and managing director of the Bombay Mercantile Cooperative Bank. This became one of the largest cooperative banks in India and also in Asia.

Padmanabha Pillai Gopinathan Nair was an Indian social worker, Gandhian, independence activist, and the chairman of Mahatma Gandhi National Memorial Trust. He participated in the Quit India movement of 1942 and worked alongside Vinoba Bhave to promote Bhoodan and Gramdan movements. He was the initiator of the camp movement, a student program that was part of the Construction Movement of Mahatma Gandhi. He was a recipient of the Jamnalal Bajaj Award, among other honors. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2016, for his contributions to society.

Giriraj Kishore was an Indian writer, who was awarded the Padma Shri by the president of India in 2007. He lived in Kanpur and served as the registrar of IIT Kanpur. He was given the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1992, the Vyas Samman in 2000, and an honorary Ph.D. by Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University in 2002.

Malji Bhai Desai is a Gandhian social worker and a politician from the Indian State of Gujarat. He founded the Gandhi Ashram in Zilia village in Patan district in Gujarat in 1964 for the economic and educational development of the rural population of Gujarat. Under the aegis of the Ashram, several educational institutions were established and several projects were implemented for the economic development of the population. He was a devout Gandhian and the Ashram was an instrument for Desai to popularize the Gandhian way of life among the general populace.

Shanti Devi was an Indian social worker born in 1934 in Balasore district of Indian state of Odisha. She was awarded the Padma Shri award on 9 November 2021 by the President, Ram Nath Kovind at the Civil Investiture Ceremony-IV, at Rashtrapati Bhavan for her social works and efforts to bring peace in the Maoist-affected Rayagada region of Odisha. Devi received the Radhanath Rath Peace Award and was awarded the Jamnalal Bajaj Award in 1994.
