Ghulam Nabi Azad is an Indian politician who served as Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha between 2014 and 2021. He also served as the Chief Minister of erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir from 2005 to 2008. On 26 September 2022, Azad announced his own political party as Democratic Progressive Azad Party. He is the chief patron cum founder of Democratic Progressive Azad Party.

They hailed from Hyderabad, Sindh. He was conferred the Padma Bhushan award in 1973 by the Government of India. He was a member of Rajya Sabha for two terms.
Nawab Mir Akbar Ali Khan was governor of Uttar Pradesh in India from 1972 to 1974 and governor of Odisha from 25 October 1974 to 17 April 1976. He was a member of the Rajya Sabha for 18 years and he was deputy chairperson of the Rajya Sabha for 12 years. He was associated with Osmania University and was a member of the Senates of Aligarh Muslim University, Jamia Millia Islamia and Jawaharlal Nehru University. Later in 1957 he founded a Polytechnic in Hyderabad.
Shakuntalā Parānjpye was an Indian writer, actress and a prominent social worker. She was a member of Maharashtra Legislative Council during 1958–64, and served as nominated member of, Rajya Sabha during 1964–70. In 1991, she was awarded, Padma Bhushan,the third-highest civilian award in the Republic of India, in recognition of her pioneering work in the field of family planning.
Fali Sam Nariman is an Indian jurist. He is the senior advocate to the Supreme Court of India since 1971 and was the President of the Bar Association of India from 1991 to 2010. Nariman is an internationally recognised jurist on international arbitration. He has been honored with the 19th Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award for Excellence in Public Administration 2018. He is one of India's most distinguished constitutional lawyers and he has argued several leading cases. He remained Additional Solicitor General of India May 1972- June 1975.
Tiruppur Subrahmanya Avinashilingam Chettiar was an Indian lawyer, politician, freedom-fighter and Gandhian. He served as the Education Minister of Madras Presidency from 1946 to 1949 and was responsible for introducing Tamil as the medium of instruction. He is also credited with having commissioned the creation of the first Tamil encyclopedia.

Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad is an Indian writer and politician. He is the Chairman of the A.P. Hindi Academy; Professor in Hindi at Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, India, and is a former Rajya Sabha Member. He received the fourth highest Indian civilian honour of the Padma Shri in 2003, followed by the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2010. The Government of India honoured him again in 2016 with the Padma Bhushan, the third highest Indian civilian award.
Ardeshir Ruttonji Wadia (1888–1971) was an author from India who was awarded Padma Bhushan in 1961 by Government of India for his contribution to literature. He was born in Mumbai in 1888 and studied law. A Parsee, he was educated at St Xavier's College, Wilson College, St Catharine's College, Oxford, and Cambridge University. From 1917 to 1942 he served as Professor and, for 3 years, as Dean at the University of Mysore. He served as a member of Mysore Legislative Council from 1930 to 1931 and from 1942 to 1943. He was a nominated member of Rajya Sabha from 1954 to 1966. He died in 1971.

He was first Vice-Chancellor of Jadavpur University and 11th Vice-Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University. He was a member of the Rajya Sabha from 1967 to 1974. He was a member of Governing Body as a Professor for Vijaygarh Jyotish Ray College ( Jadavpur).
Shivajirao Girdhar Patil was an Indian social activist and politician from the state of Maharashtra. He began his social activism at an early age when he participated in the Indian independence movement. Post-independence, he was associated with various political parties and had been member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, Maharashtra Legislative Assembly and even the Rajya Sabha for one term. In 2013, he was presented with the Padma Bhushan, India's third highest civilian award. He was the father of Indian film actress Smita Patil.
Badri Nath Prasad (1899-1966) was an Indian parliamentarian. He wrote many books on mathematics and was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1963. He was a nominated member of the Rajya Sabha from 1964 till his death in 1966.

Savita Behen (1919-2009) was an Indian politician, social worker, educationist and a former member of Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the bicameral Indian Parliament. She was known to be an advocate of women empowerment and gender equality and was listed among the 3300 distinguished living women of the world by the Council for Parity Democracy in 1990. She was honoured by the Government of India in 1971 with Padma Shri, the fourth highest Indian civilian award.
Bal Krishna Sharma, known under the pen name Naveen, was an Indian freedom activist, journalist, politician and a poet of Hindi literature. He was a member of the 1st Lok Sabha, representing Kanpur constituency and served the Rajya Sabha as a member from 1957 till his death. He succeeded Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi as the editor of Pratap daily and also served as a member of the Official Languages Commission. His poetry anthologies include Kumkum, Rashmirekha, Apalak, Kwasi, Vinoba Stavan, Urmila and Hum Vishpaee Janam Ke, the last one published posthumously. The Government of India awarded him the third highest civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan, in 1960, for his contributions to literature. India Post issued a commemorative stamp on Sharma in 1989.
