Allenville is in southeastern Moultrie County along Illinois Route 121, which leads northwest 7 miles (11 km) to Sullivan, the county seat, and southeast 11 miles (18 km) to Mattoon.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Allenville has a total area of 0.61 square miles (1.58 km2), all land. [2] Coon Creek runs through the west side of the village, flowing north toward the Kaskaskia River in Lake Shelbyville.

As of the census [5] of 2000, there were 154 people, 61 households, and 42 families residing in the village. The population density was 264.4 inhabitants per square mile (102.1/km2). There were 72 housing units at an average density of 123.6 per square mile (47.7/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 100.00% White.
There were 61 households, out of which 18.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.7% were married couples living together, 4.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.1% were non-families. 26.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 13.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.52 and the average family size was 3.10.
