The Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo is the unicameral legislature of the Republic of Kosovo that is directly elected by the people every four years. It was originally established by the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo in 2001 to provide 'provisional, democratic self-government'. On February 17, 2008, representatives of the people of Kosovo unilaterally declared Kosovo's independence and subsequently adopted the Constitution of Kosovo, which came into effect on 15 June 2008.
Lëvizja Vetëvendosje (LVV) is a left-leaning social democratic political party in Kosovo. It is a member of the Progressive Alliance, and an observer in the Party of European Socialists, and the Socialist International.
Albin Kurti is the Prime Minister of Kosovo, having been elected in March 2021 for a second time. He first served in the role between February and June 2020.
Parliamentary elections were held in Kosovo on 12 December 2010, following a vote of no-confidence in the government that brought forward the election. Those were the first elections after the country declared independence.

Shpend Ali Ahmeti is a Kosovo Albanian politician who served as the mayor of Pristina. He was leader of the New Spirit Party, which merged into Vetëvendosje in 2011, and served as their vice chairman. However, after internal disputes he left the party in 2018 to become the leader of the Social Democratic Party of Kosovo. In 2019 he became an independent politician.
The Movement for Unification is a political party in Kosovo. Its main goal is unification of Kosovo and all other former Yugoslavian territories populated by Albanians to Albania. Its leader is Avni Klinaku, known as co-founder of former National Movement for the Liberation of Kosovo, a nationalist organization of the 1980s promoting active resistance and separation of Kosovo from Yugoslavia, having some connections to People's Movement of Kosovo (PMK).
Glauk Konjufca is a Kosovo-Albanian activist, journalist and politician serving as chairman of the Assembly of Kosovo since March 2021. He was previously member of the Assembly, leader of the Vetëvendosje parliamentary group, chairman of the Assembly, minister of Foreign Affairs, as well as acting president of Kosovo until the election of Vjosa Osmani.
Local elections were held in Kosovo on 3 November 2013, with a second round on 1 December. These were the first elections which the Serbs of Northern Kosovo participated in since the Republic of Kosovo declared independence in 2008; polls were monitored by the OSCE. There were violent reactions in Serb-majority areas of northern Kosovo.

Dardan Molliqaj is a Kosovo Albanian politician from Kosovo who serves as a deputy from the Social Democratic Party of Kosovo in the Kosovo Parliament. Dardan became a deputy in the Parliament of Kosovo from the 2017 general elections with Lëvizja Vetëvendosje. Before his candidature as deputy, he worked as the Organizational Secretary in Vetëvendosje from the year 2011 until his resignation in June 2017. Molliqaj, a self declared social democrat of the center left, supports the fight against economical inequality and also has taken concrete steps towards continuous cooperation between the Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Albania.
Guxo! is a centre-right political party in Kosovo, formed on 5 November 2020 by Vjosa Osmani. In February 2022, Guxo was registered as a political party as up to that point it was a political list.
Ardian Gjini is a politician in Kosovo. He was a cabinet minister in Kosovo's government from 2005 to 2008, served in the Assembly of Kosovo from 2007 to 2014, and has been the mayor of Gjakova since 2017. Gjini has been a prominent member of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) since the party's formation in 2001.
Driton Çaushi is a politician in Kosovo. He served in the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo from 2016 to 2019, initially as a member of Vetëvendosje (VV) and later with the Social Democratic Party of Kosovo (PSD).
Pal Lekaj is a politician and medical doctor in Kosovo. He was the mayor of Gjakova from 2007 to 2013 and a cabinet minister in the Republic of Kosovo government from 2017 to 2020. Lekaj is a member of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK).
Hajdar Beqa is a politician in Kosovo, currently serving his third term in the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo. He is a member of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK).
