The Australia men's cricket team toured India in September, November and December 2023 to play three One Day International (ODI) and five Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya were named as India's captain and vice-captain, respectively, for the third ODI of the series. [9] Mukesh Kumar was added to the squad for the second ODI as a replacement for Jasprit Bumrah. [10]
Shreyas Iyer was selected in the India's squad as vice-captain, only for the last two T20Is. [11]
On 21 November 2023, Aaron Hardie and Kane Richardson replaced rested David Warner and injured Spencer Johnson in the Australia's T20I squad respectively. [12] [13]
For the last two T20Is, Sean Abbott, Josh Inglis, Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith, Marcus Stoinis and Adam Zampa were released from the Australia's squad, [14] while Ben Dwarshuis, Chris Green, Ben McDermott and Josh Philippe were added to Australia's squad. [15]

Suryakumar Yadav, also known by the initialism SKY, is an Indian international cricketer. He plays as a right-handed middle-order batter and is an occasional right-arm off break bowler. He represents the Indian cricket team and plays for Mumbai in domestic first-class cricket. Suryakumar was a member of the Indian team that finished runner~up in the 2023 Cricket World Cup. He was a part of the Indian squad which won the 2023 Asia Cup. He plays for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He is the No.1 T20 batsman.

The T20I series was drawn 1–1, with the third match called off due to a wet outfield.

On 9 July 2021, following an outbreak of COVID-19 cases in the Sri Lankan camp, the series was postponed from 13 to 18 July.

In January 2022, Sri Lanka Cricket made a request to play the T20I matches first, as the T20I squad would be coming straight from their tour of Australia. In early February, the change was agreed by both boards, with Bangalore hosting a day/night Test match, with the BCCI confirming the revised tour schedule.
