Avinder Singh Brar

Avinder Singh Brar was an Indian Police Service officer who was killed by suspected militants in 1987 in Punjab, India. At the time of his death, he was senior superintendent of police of Patiala. [1] He was awarded Padma Shri in 1988.

He studied at St. George's College, Mussoorie and at Delhi University's St Stephen's College. He was a keen swimmer and held a national record in the 100 m breaststroke. He was awarded the Asiad Jyoti for organising the swimming events at the Asian Games in New Delhi. He was survived by his wife, Sukhdeep, an IAS officer, and two children: a three-year-old son and a one-year-old daughter.

Operation Blue Star was the codename of a military operation carried out by Indian security forces between 1 and 10 June 1984 in order to remove Damdami Taksal, Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and their followers from the buildings of the Golden Temple, the holiest site for Sikhs located in Amritsar, Punjab, India. The decision to launch the operation rested with the Prime Minister of India, then Indira Gandhi, who had already authorized military preparation for a confrontation at the temple complex 18 months prior according to the then-Vice Chief of the Army Staff, S. K. Sinha. In July 1982, Harchand Singh Longowal, the president of the Sikh political party Shiromani Akali Dal, had invited Bhindranwale to take up residence in the Golden Temple to evade arrest by government authorities.

Satinder Singh, also known as Goldy Brar is a Canada-based gangster. He was born in Faridkot, in Punjab, India. He is charged with many criminal cases according to the Indian Police records. He was associated with Lawrence Bishnoi, another gangster of Punjabi origin who is currently incarcerated in Tihar Jail, Delhi.

Lawrence Bishnoi is a Punjabi gangster and is the leader of a gang in North India. He has two dozen criminal cases against him including one's of murder and extortion. According to Indian authorities, he has more than 700 sharpshooters working for him across the country. He is currently lodged in Tihar Jail.
