Oudh Narayan Shrivastava (born April 1935) is an Indian former officer of the Indian Police Service who served as the Governor of Nagaland and later the Governor of Manipur. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 1992. [2] [3] [4] [5]
Oudh Narayan Shrivastava served with the Indian Police Service for 35 years,including 20 years with the Intelligence Bureau. He spent the last eighteen years in the Northeastern states,after which he was appointed Governor of Manipur and Nagaland,from where he eventually retired.
Shrivastava was directly responsible for the peace accords with the Mizo National Front,Tripura National Volunteers and the All Bodo Students’Union. [6]
Shrivastava has been decorated many times by the IPS and IB and was awarded the Padma Shri in 1992,for outstanding work in the Northeast.
After retirement he took to writing. He has published five anthologies of short and long stories,of which four are in Hindi and one in English,and continues to write.

Udit Narayan Jha is an Indian playback singer whose songs have been featured mainly in Hindi films. Bishnupriya Manipuri,also known as Bishnupriya Meitei or simply as Bishnupriya,is an Indo-Aryan language belonging to the Bengali–Assamese linguistic sub-branch. It is a creole of Bengali language and Meitei language and it still retains its pre-Bengali features. It is spoken in parts of the Indian states of Assam,Tripura and Manipur as well as in the Sylhet Division of Bangladesh. It uses the Bengali-Assamese script as its writing system. Bishnupriya Manipuri,being a member of the Eastern Indo-Aryan languages,was evolved from Magadhi Prakrit. So,its origin is associated with Magadha realm. The Government of Tripura categorized Bishnnupriya Manipuri under the "Tribal Language Cell" of the State Council of Educational Research and Training. Its speakers are also given the "Other Backward Classes" status by the Assam Government and notably,there is no legal status of the Bishnupriyas in Manipur. In the 2020s,the Bishnupriya speaking people started demanding that the Assam Government should give them the status of “indigenous people”of Assam and treat the same like other indigenous communities of the state.

Gaidinliu Pamei popularly known as Rani Gaidinliu was a Naga spiritual and political leader who led a revolt against British rule in India. At the age of 13,she joined the Heraka religious movement of her cousin Haipou Jadonang. The movement later turned into a political movement seeking to drive out the British from Manipur and the surrounding Naga areas. Within the Heraka faith,she came to be considered an incarnation of the Goddess Cherachamdinliu. Gaidinliu was arrested in 1932 at the age of 16,and was sentenced to life imprisonment by the British rulers. Jawaharlal Nehru met her at Shillong Jail in 1937,and promised to pursue her release. Nehru gave her the title of "Rani" ("Queen"),and she gained local popularity as Rani Gaidinliu.
Narayan Debnath was an Indian comics artist,writer and illustrator. He created the Bengali comic strips Handa Bhonda (1962),Bantul the Great (1965) and Nonte Phonte (1969). He holds the record of longest running comics by an individual artiste for Handa Bhonda comics series which completed its continuous 53 years of running. He was the first and only comics artist in India who has received a D. Litt. degree. Debnath was awarded Padma Shri,the fourth highest civilian award in India,in the year 2021.
La. Ganesan Iyer is an Indian politician who is currently serving as the 19th Governor of Nagaland. Temsüla Ao was a Naga poet,fiction writer,and ethnographer from India. She was a Professor of English at North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) from where she retired in 2010. She served as the Director of the North East Zone Cultural Centre between 1992 and 1997 on deputation from NEHU. She was awarded the Padma Shri award for her contribution to Literature and Education. Her book Laburnum For My Head received the Sahitya Akademi Award for English writing in the short story category. Her works have been translated into Assamese,Bengali,French,German,Hindi,and Kannada.

Ralengnao Khathing MC,MBE (1912–1990) popularly known as Bob Khathing,was an Indian soldier,civil servant and diplomat and the first person of tribal origin to serve as an Ambassador for India. Ralengnao Khathing led the first armed forces into Tawang that established Indian control in the region,under the direct supervision of the then Assam governor Jairamdas Daulatram.

Onkar Nath Srivastava was an Indian material physicist,an Emeritus professor of Banaras Hindu University and the vice president for India and South Asia of the International Association for Hydrogen Energy,who was known for his contributions to the disciplines of nanotechnology and hydrogen energy. He was the author of two books and over 440 scientific papers and a recipient of several honors including Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize,the highest Indian award in the science and technology categories. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri,in 2016,for his contributions to science and engineering.
