P. V. Rajaraman, IAS is a retired Indian civil servant, a former managing director of India Cements and a former chairman of Audit committee and Investor Grievance Committee of the Government of India. [1] He was honoured by the Government of India in 2015 with Padma Shri, the fourth highest Indian civilian award. [2]

Biography

P. V. Rajaraman was born on 2 February 1944 in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu [3] to P. S. Venkatachalam and Janaki. He did his studies at Madras University from where he secured a master's degree in Physics (MSc) and obtained another master's degree in Management (MA) from the University of Leeds, UK. [1] Later, he appeared for the Indian civil service examination in 1967 [3] which he passed with first rank and joined the civil service in July 1967. [4] He served in the IAS for 37 years [1] [5] at various posts including the post of the Principal Secretary at the Ministry of Finance of the Government of Tamil Nadu, till his retirement on 29 February 2004. [3]

During his tenure as a civil servant, Rajaraman held several senior positions such as the chairman and managing director of Tamil Nadu Housing Board, State Commissioner of Sugar, chairman and managing director of Tamil Nadu Sugar Corporation, chairman of Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation Limited [6] and the director, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India. [1] He has also served as the Home Secretary to the Government of Tamil Nadu and as the Finance Secretary to the Government of Tamil Nadu. [1] [5] After retirement from government service, he served as the director of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation from 2007 to 2010, additional director of Indbank Merchant Banking Services from 2009 to 2013 and non executive director of Equitas Holdings from 2011 till date. [1] [5] He has also served as the managing director of India Cements and as the director of Small Industries Development Bank of India. [1] [5]

Rajaraman is married to Vasudha and the couple has a daughter, Veena, and a son, Sivasankar. The Government of India included him, in 2015, in the Republic Day honours list for the civilian award of Padma Shri. [4] [7]

R. Vasudevan was an Indian civil servant, and served as special secretary to the Prime Minister of India, as also Secretary, Ministry of Steel and Ministry of Power, Government of India. Born in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu, Vasudevan was the holder of master's degrees in Economics from the University of Delhi and in public administration from Harvard University. He died on 25 July 2010. The Government of India honoured him, posthumously, in 2015, with the award of Padma Shri, the fourth highest Indian civilian award.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">B. V. Raju</span>

Bhupathiraju Vissam Raju (1920-2002) was an Indian industrialist, a former chairman of Raasi Cements and the Cement Corporation of India and one of the pioneers of Indian cement industry. He was the director of Sagi Ramakrishnam Raju Constructions and Prasad and Company Project Works Limited. He was also interested in ceramics and refractory industries and is the founder of the Padmasri Dr. B.V Raju Institute of Technology. The Government of India awarded him the fourth-highest Indian civilian award of Padma Shri in 1977 and followed it with the third-highest honour of Padma Bhushan in 2001.

Ramesh Inder Singh is a former Indian civil servant and the incumbent Chief Information Commissioner of the state of Punjab. He was the Deputy Commissioner of Amritsar during the Operation Blue Star, the military action at the Golden Temple in 1984 and has served as the Chief Secretary of Punjab. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest Indian civilian honour of Padma Shri in 1986.

Kershasp Tehmurasp Satarawala (1916–2001) was an Indian civil servant (IAS), who served as: Lt. Governor of Goa, Daman & Diu & Dadra & Nagar Havelli (1983-1984), Governor of Punjab (1984-1985), Ambassador of India to Mexico, Guatemala & El Salvador (1985-1988). He was a recipient of the honor of Burma Star. The Government of India awarded him the third highest civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan, in 1983, for his contributions to society.

Thiruvengadam Lakshman Sankar (1928-2018) is an Indian energy expert, civil servant, corporate executive and the former head of Asian Energy Survey of the Asian Development Bank. He is a former chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Gas Power Corporation Limited and Transmission Corporation of Andhra Pradesh. Securing his MSc degree in physical chemistry from the University of Madras and MA degree in development economics from Wilson College, he entered the Indian Administrative Service where he held positions such as the Secretary of the Fuel Policy Committee from 1970 to 1975 and the Principal Secretary of the Working Group on Energy Policy from 1978 to 1979. In 2007, he headed a government committee, popularly known as the T. L. Shankar Committee, which proposed ways of reforming Indian coal sector. He is a non-executive chairman of KSK Energy Ventures and a United Nations adviser on Energy to the governments of Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Jamaica, North Korea and Bangladesh. He is a former board member of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation and a former member of the Integrated Energy Policy Committee of the Planning Commission of India. The Government of India awarded him the third highest civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan, in 2004, for his contributions to society. He passed on 26.12.2018 which was a tragic day for his family and people who had seen him work al these years. He had three sons - Ravi, Sachin and Nitin Sanker.

Mata Prasad is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer. He was one of the first people from the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes to become an IAS officer. He is a former chairman of the Union Public Service Commission of India. He served as the chief secretary of the state of Uttar Pradesh from June 1995 to October 1996, thus becoming the first Scheduled Caste officer to head the state bureaucracy. The Government of India awarded him the third highest civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan, in 2012, for his contributions to civil service.

Anumolu Ramakrishna (1939–2013) was an Indian civil and structural engineer, corporate executive and the deputy managing director of Larsen & Toubro Construction, the largest construction company in India as per 2013 statistics. He was credited with the introduction of system formwork and precast and prestressed concrete technologies in Indian construction industry, procedures which helped increase productivity, and was a co-founder of the India chapter of FSL - Global Forum on Structural Longevity. The Government of India awarded him the third highest civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan, posthumously in 2014, for his contributions to science and technology.

Dr. K. Vijayakarthikeyan is an Indian author, bureaucrat, civil servant and currently serving as the secretary of Tamil Nadu State Human Rights Commission. He served as the Collector of Tiruppur District in Tamil Nadu, Commissioner & Special Officer, Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation, Assistant Collector (Trainee) at Erode and Sub Collector at Kovilpatti before his appointment as Director for Tamil Nadu Institute of Urban Affairs Coimbatore City.

Ashok Kumar Gupta was an Indian civil servant and served as the Chairperson of the Competition Commission of India. He was formerly Secretary to the Government of India in the Department of Defence Production as well as CMD, Tamil Nadu Cements; Special Secretary (Finance), Government of Tamil Nadu; and District Magistrate, Villupuram. He has also served on the Boards of Central and State PSUs such as Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd., Heavy Engineering Corporation, and Tamil Nadu Cements. Gupta has contributed to the formulation of the Centre's Automobile Policy, Prime Minister’s Rojgar Yojana, and ‘Make’ Procedure in defence procurement.

Guruprasad Mohapatra was an officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) who had held several important positions in the Gujarat State Govt and also in the Central Govt of India. At the time of his demise in June 2021 due to COVID-19 he was holding the position of the Secretary of Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) in Govt of India.
