Awutu-Senya is one of the constituencies represented in the Parliament of Ghana. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election. Awutu-Senya is located in the Awutu/Effutu/Senya district of the Central Region of Ghana. Leading into the 2012 elections the constituency was divided into two Awutu-Senya East and Awutu-Senya West.

Central Region (Ghana) Region of Ghana

The Central Region is one of the sixteen administrative regions of Ghana. It is bordered by Ashanti and Eastern regions to the north, Western region to the west, Greater Accra region to the east, and to the south by the Gulf of Guinea. Similar to the Akuapem people of the Eastern Region of Ghana who are ruled by an Akan Abusua but was originally ruled by their own Guan kings. They also have adopted the Fante version of some Akan institutions and the use of some Fante words in their rituals. Before Akanization, the Simpa Kingdom was formed about 1400 AD.
