Daffiama-Bussie-Issa is one of the constituencies represented in the Parliament of Ghana. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election. Daffiama-Bussie-Issa is located in the Daffiama-Bussie-Issa District of the Upper West Region of Ghana.

Boundaries

The seat is located within the Daffiama-Bussie-Issa District of the Upper West Region of Ghana. Its western neighbour is Nadowli-Kaleo District. To the north is the Jirapa and Sissala West to the east the Sissala East and to the south east the and Wa East to the south the Wa. [1] [2]

History

The constituency was changed in 2012 when the initial Nadowli District was divided into the Nadowli-Kaleo District and Daffiama-Bussie-Issa District. Therefore, the Nadowli-Kaleo became the new constituency for the initial Nadawli West and the Nadowli East constituency was also changed to Daffiama-Bussie-Issa constituency. [1]

Nadowli District Former District in Upper West, Ghana

Nadowli District is a former district that was located in Upper West Region, Ghana. Originally created as an ordinary district assembly in 1988. However on 28 June 2012, it was split off into two new districts: Nadowli-Kaleo District and Daffiama-Bussie-Issa District. The district assembly was located in the western part of Upper West Region and had Nadowli as its capital town.

Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Nadowli District in 1988; until the eastern part of the district was later split off to create Daffiama-Bussie-Issa District on 28 June 2012; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Nadowli-Kaleo District. The district assembly is located in the western part of Upper West Region and has Issa as its capital town.

Gbele Resource Centre

The Gbele Resource Centre or Gbele Game Production Reserve is one of the lesser known game reserves in Ghana. It is located in the Sissala West, Sissala East Municipal and Daffiama Bussie Issa districts of the Upper West Region The reserve is the fourth largest in Ghana. The nearest town is Tumu, capital of the Sissala East Municipal District which is 17 kilometres to the north. A total of 176 species of birds have been recorded in the reserve. The staff in the reserve are aware of an additional 18 species. The reserve contains antelope, hartebeest, bushbuck, waterbuck, savannah duikers and warthogs, baboon, patas, green monkey among others. There are about 190 species of birds as well. There are nature hikes provided as well. About 30 kilometres to the north of the centre is the Gwollu Defence Wall.
