Boundaries

The seat is bounded on the north by the Upper Denkyira East Municipality on the south by the Hemang Lower Denkyira District, on the west by the Mpohor Wassa East District, and on the east by the Assin North Municipality and Assin South District of the Central Region of Ghana. [1]

However on 28 June 2012, it was split off into two new districts: Twifo-Atti Morkwa District and Hemang-Lower Denkyira District. The district assembly was located in the northwest part of Central Region and had Twifo Praso as its capital town.
