Akatsi South (formerly part of Avenor-Ave) is one of the constituencies represented in the Parliament of Ghana. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election. Akatsi South is located in the Akatsi district of the Volta Region of Ghana.
The seat is located entirely within the Akatsi Municipality of the Volta Region of Ghana. The constituency shares a boundary with Akatsi North District at the North, at North-East with Ketu-North Municipality, at the East with Keta Municipal Assembly, to the South with the Anlo District and to the West with South Tongu Municipal Assembly, at the North-West id the Agotime-Ziope District.

The Electoral Commission of Ghana made changes to the constituencies following the national census in 2010. The total number of constituencies increased by 45 from 230 to 275. The Avenor-Ane became the Akatsi South constituency with Akatsi North carved out of it. [7]

Volta Region is one of Ghana's sixteen administrative regions, with Ho designated as its capital. It is located west of Republic of Togo and to the east of Lake Volta. Divided into 25 administrative districts, the region is multi-ethnic and multilingual, including groups such as the Ewe, the Guan, and the Akan peoples. The Guan peoples include the Lolobi, Likpe, Akpafu, Buem, and Nkonya people. This region was carved out of the Volta Region in December 2018 by the New Patriotic Party. Following his elevation to the position of Speaker, he resigned his position as Member of Parliament for the Avenor-Ave constituency in the Parliament of Ghana.
