Asikuma/Odoben/Brakwa District is one of the twenty-two districts in Central Region, Ghana. Originally created as an ordinary district assembly in 1988, which was created from the Breman-Ajumako-Enyan District Council from 1974 to 1978. The district assembly was located in the northeast part of Central Region and had Breman Asikuma as its capital town.

In the third republic, he was a member of the People's National Party, the party that won the 1979 general election. Abban was a trained teacher. Prior to politics, he taught in various schools in the then Gold Coast.

However on 15 March 2018, the eastern part of the district was split off to create Achiase District; thus the remaining part has been retained as Birim South District.
