Akim Swedru is one of the constituencies represented in the Parliament of Ghana. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election.
The Akim Swedru constituency is located within the Birim South District of the Eastern Region of Ghana. At the time of the 1965 Ghanaian parliamentary election, this area was represented by the Swedru-Achease constituency. During the 2nd and 3rd Republics, it was part of the Oda constituency. During the 4th Republic, Akim Swedru had its own constituency.

Akim Oda, a town in Ghana's Eastern Region, serving as the administrative and traditional center of the Birim Central Municipal District and Akyem Kotoku, respectively. The town has 60,604 residents as of 2013.
Felix Kwasi Owusu-Adjapong was a Ghanaian politician who was a member of the Parliament of Ghana as a New Patriotic Party (NPP) representative for Akyem Swedru of the eastern region of Ghana. He also served as Minister for Energy.
Birim South District is one of the thirty-three districts in Eastern Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger and first Birim South District in 1988, which was created from the former Birim District Council, until the western part of the district was split off to create a new Birim South District on 29 February 2008; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Birim Central Municipal District, with Akim Oda as its capital town. However, on 15 March 2018, the eastern part of the district was split off to become Achiase District; thus, the remaining part has been retained as Birim South District. The district assembly is located in the southwest part of Eastern Region and has Akim Swedru as its capital town.

Established in 1946 as a Teacher training college the college was later converted into a Secondary School in October 1970. Students and Old Students of the School are referred to as ANUANOM. .Akisss is one of the few schools in Ghana that had benefited from the Japan Overseas cooperation volunteers program [JOCV-JICA]
