Bengaluru Cantonment railway station, also known as Bengaluru Cant (station code: BNC [1] ) is one of the four important railway stations serving the city of Bengaluru and it is located in the locality of Vasanth Nagar and adjoins Fraser Town, Benson Town and Shivajinagar. [2] [3] The Station started operations in 1864, with the launch of the Bengaluru Cantonment – Jolarpettai train services by the Madras Railway. The train line was broad-gauge and 149 km long, connecting the Bengaluru Cantonment with Vellore district. [4] A total of 119 passenger trains start/end/pass through Bengaluru Cantonment railway station. [5] Total 499 stations are directly connected to Bengaluru Cantonment railway station via these 269 passenger trains. [6]
Amenities available at the station include Passenger Reservation Centre (PRS), [7] Waiting halls, [8] AC VIP lounge, [8] enquiry counters, essential stalls, Food plaza, ATM along with the other basic facilities. [9] Hand trolley facility are provided to porters for carrying luggage of passengers with no change in fare charged by the porters. [10]
Considering the need of medical services at the station by Bengaluru Division of the South Western Railway opened a clinic in February, 2014 which would provide free emergency medical services for the train travellers. [11]
In the future, the Namma Metro's Pink Line will connect the Cantonment Railway station between Kalena Agrahara and Nagawara. A skywalk is proposed to connect the metro station with the railway station.
This station consists of 7 platforms and 8 tracks which are connected by foot overbridge for passengers to board the express trains at the respective platforms. These platforms are built to accumulate 24-coach express trains.

Bengaluru Cantonment station got a face lift with the remodelled entrance and ticketing counter behind the platform 2 which was opened to public in January 2011 by K Muniyappa, Union minister of state for railways. [12]

Namma Metro, also known as Bengaluru Metro, is a rapid transit system serving the city of Bengaluru, the capital city of the state of Karnataka, India. It is the second-longest operational metro network in India with an operational length of 76.95 kilometers, just behind Delhi Metro. Upon its inauguration in 2011, it became the first underground metro system in South India. Namma Metro has a mix of underground, at grade, and elevated stations. Out of the 68 operational metro stations of Namma Metro as of November 2024, there are 59 elevated stations, eight underground stations and one at-grade station. The system runs on standard-gauge tracks.
Karnataka, a state in South India has a well-developed transport system. Secunderabad Junction railway station is an NSG–1 category Indian railway station in Secunderabad railway division of South Central Railway zone. It is the major Railway Junction in the city of Hyderabad, Telangana, India. It is one of the busiest railway stations in South India and one of the most important hubs in the country and a commuter rail hub in the Hyderabad urban area. Built in 1874 by the Nizam of Hyderabad during the British era, it was the main station of Nizam's Guaranteed State Railway until the Kacheguda railway station opened in 1916. The station was taken over by Indian Railways in 1951, when NGSR was nationalised. Its main portico and concourse are influenced by Nizamesque architecture. The station, which resembles a fort, is a tourist attraction in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
Bengaluru City Railway Station, officially Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna Bengaluru Station, also known as Bangalore City Railway Station, KSR Bengaluru Station, or Majestic Railway station, is the main railway station serving the city of Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. It is the busiest railway station in South Western Railway zone of Indian Railways, and is the only station classified under NSG1 category in the zone.
The Bengaluru Suburban Railway is an under-construction suburban rail network for the city of Bengaluru in Karnataka. Since the first proposal in 1983, several others were made but to no avail until a revised proposal of length 161 km (100 mi) was approved in the 2019 Railway Budget. The network is set to have four lines in total with two of them planned to open by December 2026.

Green Line of Namma Metro was built along with the Purple Line during the first phase of construction of the metro rail system for the city of Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. The 30.5 km (19.0 mi) line connects Madavara in the northwest to Silk Institute in the south. Green Line is mostly elevated, with 26 elevated and 3 underground stations. The Line passes through Majestic station which is an interchange station between Green and Purple Lines.
The Purple Line is a part of the Namma Metro rail system for the city of Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. As of 2023, the line is 43.49 km (27.02 mi) long and spans 37 stations from Challaghatta in the southwest to Whitefield (Kadugodi) to the east. The Purple Line is mostly elevated, with 31 elevated stations, 5 underground stations and 1 at-grade station. The Line passes through many prime activity centers of the city including Whitefield, Krishnarajapura, MG Road, Vidhana Soudha, Vijayanagar, Rajarajeshwari Nagar, Kengeri. Majestic station, is an interchange station between Purple and Green Lines. Phase I of the Purple Line was the first underground metro section in South India.
Nadaprabhu KempegowdaStation, Majestic is an underground interchange metro station on the east–west corridor of the Purple Line and north–south corridor of Green Line of Namma Metro in Bengaluru, in the state of Karnataka, India. It opened to the public on 30 April 2016 as part of Namma Metro's Phase-1. This important metro station serves as the interchange station allowing passengers to transfer between these lines for ease of travel. The station is located within walking distance from BMTC & KSRTC's Kempegowda Bus Station, as also the City's Main Railway station.

Yeshwanthpur is an important elevated metro station on the North-South corridor of the Green Line of Namma Metro serving the Yeshwanthpur area of Bengaluru, India. It was opened to the public on 1 March 2014.
Bengaluru East railway station, also known as Bangalore East railway station, is an old British-era railway station surrounded by Pottery Road, Kumaraswamy Naidu Road, Murgesha Mudaliar Road and Kenchappa Road. It is a small quaint station located in Fraser Town, Bangalore Cantonment. This station is very convenient for residents traveling towards or returning from Kolar Gold Fields or Madras. Express and Mail trains did not stop here until the 1920s. The station is now renovated with a larger platform. Adjacent to the railway station is the Bangalore East Football Grounds, which nowadays is more used for playing cricket. Well-known cartoonist Paul Fernandes remembers as a young boy befriending train drivers at this station and getting grease for his bicycle.
Kengeri railway station is a major railway station on the Mysuru–Bengaluru railway line within the city limits of Bengaluru in the Indian State of Karnataka. It is about 10 km south-west to the centre of city. It is an important railway station within the city limits that include KSR Bengaluru, Yeshwantpur Jn. and Bengaluru Cantt, SMVT Bengaluru, Yelahanka, Krishnarajapuram and Whitefield. It has 4 platforms. It is well connected, with a metro station on the Purple line nearby.
The Pink Line of Namma Metro is under construction and will form part of the metro rail network for the city of Bangalore, Karnataka, India. The 21.25 km (13.20 mi) line connects Kalena Agrahara station on Bannerghatta Road in the south with Nagawara station on Outer Ring Road in the north. The Pink Line is mostly underground but also has a 6.98 km (4.34 mi) elevated section and a 0.48 km (0.30 mi) at-grade (surface) section. There are 18 stations on the line, including 12 underground and 6 elevated ones. Pink Line will have an interchange with the Purple Line at MG Road station. It will also have interchanges with the Yellow line at Jayadeva Hospital station and with the Blue Line at Nagawara. Both these lines are under construction.
The 22665 / 22666 KSR Bengaluru City – Coimbatore Uday Express is the 1st Uday Express series double-decker AC chair train of the Indian Railways connecting Bangalore City in Karnataka and Coimbatore Junction in Tamil Nadu. It is currently being operated with 22665/22666 train numbers on all days in a week basis. It operates at an average speed of 65 km/h.
