Dharwad railway station formerly known as Dharwar railway station (station code: DWR) is a major station under Hubli railway division of South Western Railway zone of Indian Railways situated in Dharwad, Karnataka. It is in top 10 station in South Western Railway (SWR). [1] It is one of the busiest railway station in the state. [2] The new railway station was completed and inaugurated in October 2022 by Railway Minister. [3]

Dharwad is well connected to Hubballi, Belgaum, Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, Gadag, Bagalkot, Bijapur, Solapur, Bellary, Davangere, Delhi, Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Vijayawada, Mysore, Tirupati and Manmad by daily trains to Chennai, Howrah and Thiruvananthapuram. [4]

The airport has been made self-reliant in terms of electricity generation, with the commissioning of an 8 megawatt (MW) ground-mounted grid-connected photovoltaic solar plant in April 2021.

Karnataka, a state in South India has a well-developed transport system. The Chandramauleshwara Temple, sometimes referred to as the Candramauḷĩśvara or Chandramouleshwara temple at Unkal, is an 11th-century Shiva temple with Chalukyan architecture in Unkal (Hubballi), Karnataka, India. The temple has a square plan architecture with four entrances from the cardinal directions, while illustrating the sandhara plan found in Sanskrit texts on architecture. It originally had a Chaturmukha (four-faced) Linga in the center of the temple and many more mandapas (halls), but the surviving structure is much smaller. The temple preserves an early example of a relatively uncommon Hindu architecture. The temple is also notable for how it integrates the artwork of Shaivism, Vaishnavism, Shaktism and Vedic deities together.

Siddaganga Intercity Express, formerly Intercity Excpress is a daily express train that runs between Dharwad and Bengaluru in Karnataka, India and it replaced Bangalore City - Hubli (Hubballi) Shatabdi Express. and until 2009, this train ran from Hubballi to Bengaluru. It was extended to Dharwad on 8 December 2009. It takes 8 hours 50 minutes to cover 490 kilometres (300 mi). It has 17 stops and 65 intermediate Stations. It is numbered as 12725/12726. The train belongs to Mysuru Division of South Western Railway.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation</span> Local civic body in Hubli and Dharwad, Karnataka, India

Municipal Corporation of the City of Hubballi-Dharward or Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) is the Municipal Corporation responsible for the civic infrastructure and administration of the twin cities of Hubballi and Dharwad, located in North Western part of Karnataka state in India. The organization is known, in short, as HDMC. This civic administrative body administers an area of 213 km2. HDMC consists of 82 elected members from four Vidhan Sabha constituencies of Hubballi-Dharwad. Presently the Council is under suspended animation pending election of new members. There has been a huge demand by people of Dharwad to create a separate civic body and get itself detached by HDMC. Claims are that most of the funds are allocated to Hubballi solely.

Indian Institute of Technology Dharwad is an autonomous engineering and technology institute in Dharwad, Karnataka, India. IIT Dharwad started functioning from July 2016 in a temporary campus, previously of the Water and Land Management Institute (WALMI) in Belur Industrial Area, on the outskirts of Dharwad city. It was formally inaugurated on 28 August 2016. For the academic year 2016–2017, the institute offered B.Tech courses in three branches, namely. Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Mechanical Engineering. The year 2021 saw the introduction of an additional branch, Engineering physics. As of 2022, the institute expanded to provide four additional courses of study, namely Chemical and Biochemical engineering, Mathematics and Computing, Civil and Infrastructure engineering, and Interdisciplinary Sciences.

Gadag Junction railway station is a NSG-4 Category railway station under South Western Railway in Gadag district, Karnataka. It serves Gadag-Betageri. The station consists of 3 platforms. The station lies on Guntakal–Vasco da Gama section HDN-7A | and as well as it connects Gadag–Hotgi railway line.The Gadag–Hotgi railway line was converted from metre gauge to broad gauge in December 2008. Amenities at Gadag railway station include: Escalators at PF-1 & PF2, Elevators at PF-1 & PF2, Coach Positioning display, computerized reservation office, waiting room, retiring room, free Wi-Fi facility, vegetarian and non-vegetarian refreshments, and book stall. Bagalkot Junction railway station is a railway station in the Hubli railway division of South Western Railway in Bagalkote district, Karnataka, India. The station lies on the Gadag–Hotgi railway line, which serves Bagalkote and nearby towns with 3 platforms and was converted from meter gauge to broad gauge in December 2008. A new line is being constructed between Bagalkote and Kudachi. Railway stations have amenities such as a computerized reservation office, waiting room, retiring room book stall. It is a B category railway station.
