Bernd Landvoigt (born 23 March 1951) is a retired German rower.

Landvoigt and his twin brother Jörg were born in Brandenburg an der Havel, then in the German Democratic Republic. [1] Their father was a boatman: their mother worked as a secretary. [1]

Bernd Landvoigt had his best achievements in the coxless pairs, rowing with his twin Jörg. Between 1974 and 1980 they won all but one 180 races they competed in, including four world championships and two Olympics; they only lost once, to other twins, Yuri and Nikolay Pimenov. Landvoigt brothers also won a bronze medal in the eights at the 1972 Olympics and a European title in coxless fours in 1973. [2] [3] [4]

After retiring from competitions Bernd Landvoigt worked as a rowing coach, first at his club SG Dynamo Potsdam and later with the national team. [3] His wife Viola Goretzki and nephew Ike Landvoigt are also retired Olympic rowers. [2]

Jörg Lucke is a retired East German rower. He won a bronze medal in the eights at the 1966 World Championships and an Olympic gold medal in the coxless pairs in 1968. After that he competed in the coxed pairs with Wolfgang Gunkel. Together they won the European title in 1971, the Olympics gold medal in 1972, and the world title in 1975, placing second in 1974.

Erik Petersen is a retired Danish rower. Together with Bjørn Hasløv, Kurt Helmudt and John Hansen he won a gold medal at the 1964 Summer Olympics and a silver medal at the 1964 European Championships in the coxless fours event. Wolfgang Gunkel was an East German rower who mostly competed in coxed pairs together with Jörg Lucke. In this event he won the European title in 1971, the Olympic gold medal in 1972, and the world title in 1975. His crew placed fourth at the 1968 Olympics. Gunkel won another world title in the men's eight in 1977. In February 1978, he was given the sports awards Honoured Master of Sports.

Joachim Werner Ehrig is a German retired rower who specialized in the coxless fours. He won a silver medal in the event at the 1970 World Rowing Championships and bronze medals at the 1971 European Championships and 1972 Summer Olympics.

Viola Goretzki is a retired German rower. She won a world title in 1975 and an Olympic gold medal in 1976 at the 1976 Montreal in the eight event. For these achievements she was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in 1976. Her husband Bernd Landvoigt, brother-in-law Jörg Landvoigt and nephew Ike Landvoigt are also retired Olympic rowers.

Peter Niehusen is the only sportsman to have won international medals as both a coxswain and a rower. He won two gold medals and three bronze medals at the European and World Championships and the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Aleksandr Kulagin</span>

Aleksandr Viktorovich Kulagin is a retired Russian rower who had his best achievements in the coxless fours, together with Valeriy Dolinin, Aleksey Kamkin and Vitaly Eliseyev. In this event they won a world title in 1981 and silver medals at the 1980 Summer Olympics and 1982 World Rowing Championships. Kulagin and Eliseev also won a world title in the coxless pairs in 1977.

The 1962 World Rowing Championships were the inaugural world championships in rowing. The competition was held in September 1962 on the Rotsee in Lucerne, Switzerland. Rowers from West Germany dominated the competition, winning five of the seven boat classes.

Ike Landvoigt is a retired German rower who won a gold and a silver medal in the eights at the world championships of 1995 and 1998, respectively. He finished in 9th and 11th place in the coxless fours at the 1996 and 2000 Olympics, respectively. His father Jörg is also a retired Olympic rower.

Johannes Clemens Maria "Jan" van der Horst is a retired Dutch rower who won a bronze medal in the coxless pairs at the 1975 World Rowing Championships, together with Willem Boeschoten. They competed in this event at the 1976 Summer Olympics and finished in tenth place.

Boris Fyodorov is a Soviet rower. He had a long career, having won international medals between the ages of 22 and 35.
