The British Academy Games Award for British Game is an award presented annually by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA). It is given in honour of "the best British game of the year, across all genres and platforms. Creative control and overall development must be led by a British development studio.". [1] The first ceremony to introduce the award was the 9th British Academy Games Awards in 2013, and was received by Fireproof Games' The Room. [2]

Contents

Since its inception, the award has been given to four games, all from separate developers and publishers. As developers, Playground Games have been nominated the most times on three occasions. As publishers, both Sony Computer Entertainment and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment share the most nominations with four occasions each.

The current holder of the award is Rollerdrome , developed by Roll7 and published by Private Division, which won at the 19th British Academy Games Awards in 2023.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare & Grand Theft Auto IV led with the most nominations with seven, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was the major winner, taking three of the seven awards available.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) EE Game of the Year, formerly EE Mobile Game of the Year is an audience voted award presented annually at the British Academy Games Awards honouring "the best game of the year, as voted for by the public". The award is sponsored by the telecommunications company EE Limited and winners receive a special solid yellow BAFTA statuette as opposed to the standard golden statuettes given to the recipients of other categories.
