Buena Vista is an unincorporated community in Bexar County, in the U.S. state of Texas. [1] It is located within the Greater San Antonio metropolitan area.

History

The area in what is known as Buena Vista was first settled sometime before 1900. It had several houses and a store in the mid-1930s. [2]

Geography

Buena Vista is located at the intersection of Farm to Market Road 1937 and Blue Wing Road, 11 mi (18 km) southeast of Downtown San Antonio in southeastern Bexar County. [2]

Education

In the mid-1930s, Buena Vista had a school with five teachers for students in first through eighth grades until it joined the Southside Independent School District in the early 1950s. [2] The community continues to be served by the Southside ISD today.

The Woman's Club of San Antonio is a philanthropic civic organization located in Bexar County in the U.S. state of Texas. It was founded October 1, 1898 by Mary Eleanor Brackenridge, Marin B. Fenwick and sixteen other individuals who had been inspired by the National Federation of Women's Clubs. Brackenridge served as the organization's first president. The sororal organization is the oldest civic organization in San Antonio. They partner with businesses, local government and other civic organizations to promote health, safety, welfare and education. One of its original goals was to bring the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution to fruition, and was the first Texas woman's club to promote the issue.
