Chettinad Vidyasharam is a co-educational, independent day school located in Chennai, India. It was founded in 1986 by Kumara Rani of Chettinad, Meena Muthiah, a prominent Chennai based philanthropist, and educationalist.[ citation needed ] The school is a long-cherished dream of Muthiah, whose vision was to start an educational institution combining the virtues of art and culture, which will endeavour to raise the integrated child who is not dwarfed by consideration of caste, creed or community. [1] The CBSE affiliated school, located in the upscale neighbourhood of MRC Nagar, is one of the country's largest private day schools in terms of campus size and student enrollment.[ citation needed ] It has around 8,000 students enrolled in its primary, high and higher secondary classes.[ citation needed ]

Annual events

Maithri

Maithri is a biennial cultural festival hosted by Chettinad Vidyasharam. Touted to be one of South India's largest school cultural fests, with a budget of over ₹20 Lakhs ($35,000), the event attracts students from across the state.

The fest, consisting of events ranging from Creative Writing to Channel Surfing, is fiercely competed by students, who are evaluated by celebrity judges. P.S.Senior Secondary School, Mylapore are the defending champions of Maithri.

Trishna

Trishna is a biennial science fair organised by Chettinad Vidyasharam. It is a platform for aspiring scientists to put forth their innovative ideas. The science fair attracts young minds from different cities, who throng to witness the creativity and magnificence on display.

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was the Chief Guest of the event in 2007.

CVMUN

Chettinad Vidyasharam Model United Nations is one of the country's largest student-run conferences, where over 500 students partake in as diplomats, to understand the intricacies and nuances of International Relations.

In 2023, the conference had a footfall of 620 students, making it the largest school MUN in all of South India. The 3-day Conference is recognised by the United Nations Information Centre for India and Bhutan

Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa is a 2010 Indian Tamil-language musical romantic drama film written and directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, starring Silambarasan and Trisha. Jointly produced by Elred Kumar, Jayaraman, VTV Ganesh and P. Madan under the banner Escape Artists Motion Pictures and RS Infotainment, the film was distributed by Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies. The story was simultaneously shot in Telugu as Ye Maaya Chesave, starring Naga Chaitanya and Samantha, however, with a different cast.

SpringSpree, sometimes written as Spring Spree and popularly known as Spree, is the annual cultural festival of the National Institute of Technology, Warangal. Soon to be in its 29th edition this cultural fest has the distinction of being one among the largest cultural fests of South India. With a footfall of around 10,000 and participation of around 600 colleges and increasing this fest has come a long way from its humble inception in 1978. Spring Spree today has an impressive array of events to cater to every possible personality. It covers every possible genre in music, dance, literature, art and gaming. Also an important part of this fest today are the workshops on subjects ranging from ethical hacking to the basics of a guitar. Also this fest has stepped up with time to include the celebs of the day. Some of the prominent personalities who have visited the campus during this very fest are Suraj Jagan, Suchitra, Sobhita Dhulipala, KK, Shobha Naidu, Baiju Dharmajan, Naresh Iyer and Stephen Devassy. The themes of Spring Spree have ranged from Renaissance, Rubaroo India, Carnival, Fantasia and World Fest for the year 2015.

The 33rd Filmfare Awards South ceremony honoring the winners of the best of South Indian cinema in 1985 was an event held on 10 August 1986 at Music Academy Chennai. The president of this year's function is Mr. A. C. Muthiah, the eminent industrialist.

Joshua: Imai Pol Kaakha is a 2024 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film written and directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon and produced by Ishari K. Ganesh. The film stars Varun in the titular role, alongside Krishna and debutante Raahei. The music was composed by Karthik, while S. R. Kathir and Anthony handled the cinematography and editing of the film.
