The Farrandsville Iron Furnace was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991. [3]

As of the census [7] of 2000, there were 179 people, 56 households, and 45 families residing in the township. The population density was 9.8 people per square mile (3.8/km2). There were 92 housing units at an average density of 5.0/sq mi (1.9/km2). The racial makeup of the township was 97.21% White, 0.56% Native American, 0.56% from other races, and 1.68% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.56% of the population.
There were 56 households, out of which 26.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 71.4% were married couples living together, 8.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 19.6% were non-families. 19.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 12.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.79 and the average family size was 3.16.
In the township the population was spread out, with 22.3% under the age of 18, 3.9% from 18 to 24, 25.7% from 25 to 44, 20.7% from 45 to 64, and 27.4% who were 65 years of age or older.
