The Daily Record is a statewide business and legal newspaper published in Baltimore, Maryland. [1] The paper publishes five days a week, 52 weeks a year, except for certain holidays.
Founded by Edwin Warfield, The Daily Record was first published in 1888 [2] as a court and commercial paper. Minneapolis-based Dolan Media Inc., [3] (NYSE: DM) [4] acquired the Daily Record Company in 1994. [1] The paper launched its Web site in 1997. Dolan was acquired by GateHouse Media in 2015 and renamed BridgeTower Media the next year. [5]
The Daily Record reports on commerce, finance, law, business, construction and real estate, with a focus on Baltimore City and Baltimore County. [6] Friday's edition features Maryland Business, with an expanded look at business news.
Monday's edition features Maryland Lawyer, which expands on the paper's normal coverage of local, regional and national legal trends. The paper tracks Maryland's appellate courts (the Court of Appeals [7] and the Court of Special Appeals [8] and selected trial-level courts, including the circuit courts for Baltimore City and Baltimore County [9] and Montgomery County [10] and includes significant case law and opinion digests. The paper also covers the federal courts in Baltimore and Greenbelt [11] and the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. [12]
A Saturday edition was discontinued in 2008.
The Daily Record produces a number of target publications focused on particular aspects of Maryland business. The company also produces the newsletter Maryland Family Law Monthly, which tracks family law matters in the state.
The paper hosts a number of annual events [13] honoring members of Maryland's business, legal, health care and other industries. These include Maryland's Top 100 Women, Leadership in Law and Influential Marylanders.
On the Record [14] is the paper's legal blog and features contributions from the paper's writing and editing staff. Eye on Annapolis [15] is a government matters blog written by The Daily Record's Maryland General Assembly [16] reporter, with intensive coverage during the 90-day session running from January to March. "Maryland Business" [17] is The Daily Record's business blog featuring contributions from the writing and editing staff. And "Generation J.D." [18] is The Daily Record's blog for young lawyers, written by attorneys from across the state who are rising stars in the legal profession.
The paper received the National Newspaper Association’s 2007 General Excellence Award, Maryland Daily Division, circulation less than 16,000. [19]

As a Democrat, Giannetti was elected to the Maryland House of Delegates in 1998 for District 13B and served from 1999 to 2003. In 2002 he was elected into the State Senate for District 21, which covers parts of Anne Arundel County and Prince George's County. He was defeated in the 2006 Democratic primary and general elections by former member of the Maryland House of Delegates and U.S. Ambassador to Romania James Rosapepe.

William Parks was an 18th-century printer and journalist in England and Colonial America. He was the first printer in Maryland authorized as the official printer for the colonial government. He published the first newspaper in the Southern American colonies, the Maryland Gazette. He later became authorized as the official printer for the colonial government of Virginia. Parks was also the publisher and printer of the first official collection of the authentic 1733 set of Virginia's laws, and the first colonial publisher and proprietor of The Virginia Gazette newspaper. During his lifetime Parks established four new newspapers in the colonies. He also worked with Benjamin Franklin on several projects related to printing, most notably, the establishment of a paper mill in Virginia, the first such mill south of Pennsylvania.

The Howard County Times is a daily newspaper serving Howard County, Maryland, USA. Although it claims to trace its origins to 1840, it was founded in 1869 as The Ellicott City Times, a weekly newspaper. In 1958, its name was changed to The Howard County Times and it was acquired by the then-independent local publisher Patuxent Publishing Company in 1978, along with other local papers. As of January 2016, The Howard County Times is currently a unit of the Baltimore Sun Media Group and maintains its online news page on The Baltimore Sun website. The Howard County Times website and social media pages provide news items from the Times as well as several other local area newspapers and magazines, including the Columbia Flier, the Laurel Leader, and Howard magazine.

On June 28, 2018, a mass shooting occurred at the offices of The Capital, a newspaper serving Annapolis, Maryland, United States. The gunman, Jarrod Ramos, killed five employees with a shotgun and injured two others who were trying to escape. Ramos was arrested shortly thereafter. He pleaded guilty but not criminally responsible to 23 charges; in July 2021, a jury found him criminally responsible.
