Dendrobium plicatile is an Asian orchid species, a member of the genus Dendobium . It was formerly described as Flickingeria fimbriata.

Contents

Distribution

The orchid's native regions include Southeast Asia, the Himalayas, and Malesia.

It is found in Borneo, Cambodia, South and Central China, Hainan, Himalayas East, India ( Assam), Java, Laos, Nusa Tenggara islands, Malaya, Nepal, Nicobar Islands, Philippines, Sulawesi, Sumatera, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Description

The methanol extract of D. plicatile has been shown to scavenge the superoxide anion radical ·O2. [2] Flower extracts from the closely related species Dendrobium officinale have also been proven to reduce fatty liver disease, oxidative stress, and inflammation, protecting against alcohol-induced liver injury. [3]

From the stems, three phenanthrenes can be isolated, named plicatol A, B and C. [4]

The plant also contains the norditerpenoids named flickinflimilins A and B and steroids. [5]

Morus alba Species of plant

Morus alba, known as white mulberry, common mulberry and silkworm mulberry, is a fast-growing, small to medium-sized mulberry tree which grows to 10–20 m (33–66 ft) tall. It is generally a short-lived tree with a lifespan comparable to that of humans, although there are some specimens known to be more than 250 years old. The species is native to India and is widely cultivated and naturalized elsewhere.

Gingerol ([6]-gingerol) is a phenolic phytochemical compound found in fresh ginger that activates spice receptors on the tongue. It is normally found as a pungent yellow oil in the ginger rhizome, but can also form a low-melting crystalline solid. This chemical compound is found in all members of the Zingiberaceae family and is high in concentrations in the grains of paradise as well as an African Ginger species.

Aldehyde dehydrogenases are a group of enzymes that catalyse the oxidation of aldehydes. They convert aldehydes to carboxylic acids. The oxygen comes from a water molecule. To date, nineteen ALDH genes have been identified within the human genome. These genes participate in a wide variety of biological processes including the detoxification of exogenously and endogenously generated aldehydes.

Coeloglossum Genus of flowering plants in the orchid family Orchidaceae

Coeloglossum is a genus of flowering plants in the orchid family Orchidaceae. It has long been considered to have only one species, Coeloglossum viride, the frog orchid. Some recent classifications regard Coeloglossum as part of the larger genus, Dactylorhiza, so that C. viride becomes Dactylorhiza viridis. Other sources continue to keep Coeloglossum viride separate.

Boswellic acids are a series of pentacyclic terpenoid molecules that are produced by plants in the genus Boswellia. Like many other terpenes, boswellic acids appear in the resin of the plant that exudes them; it is estimated that they make up 30% of the resin of Boswellia serrata. While boswellic acids are a major component of the resin, the steam or hydro distilled frankincense essential oil does not contain any boswellic acid as these components are non-volatile and too large to come over in the steam distillation process.

Dendrobium nobile, commonly known as the noble dendrobium, is a member of the family Orchidaceae.
