Clube Desportivo da Calheta (Capeverdean Crioulo, ALUPEC or ALUPEK: Klubi Disportibu da Kadjeta) is a football (soccer) club that plays in the Santiago Island League North Zone in Cape Verde. The team is based in the town of Calheta de São Miguel in the eastern part of the island of Santiago and its stadium is in the northwest of town named Estádio da Calheta. It may be the oldest club in the municipality. It is one of several clubs that never won a regional title as well as five of the original fifteen. Since the implementation of the two tier regional system in 2015, Calheta are one of ten unrelegated clubs of northern Santiago.

The Alfabeto Unificado para a Escrita do Caboverdiano, commonly known as ALUPEC, is the alphabet that was officially recognized by the Cape Verdean government to write Cape Verdean Creole.

Cape Verde or Cabo Verde, officially the Republic of Cabo Verde, is an island country spanning an archipelago of 10 volcanic islands in the central Atlantic Ocean. It forms part of the Macaronesia ecoregion, along with the Azores, Canary Islands, Madeira, and the Savage Isles. In ancient times these islands were referred to as "the Islands of the Blessed" or the "Fortunate Isles". Located 570 kilometres (350 mi) west of the Cape Verde Peninsula off the coast of Northwest Africa, the islands cover a combined area of slightly over 4,000 square kilometres (1,500 sq mi).

Calheta de São Miguel is a city in the northern part of the island of Santiago, Cape Verde. In 2010 its population was 3,175. It is situated on the east coast, 31 km north of the capital Praia. It is the seat of São Miguel municipality.

History

In recent years, the club finished 10th in 2015, also in that season, they defeated União Picos 6-1 on February 28 which made it the highest overall regional result. The extended regional season would be a successful year for the club in results, it was moderate as they finished 6th with 38 points and scored 49 goals, they suffered only 7 losses, these became club records, their position was not. In 2017, it was least successful as they finished with 27 points and scored 38 goals but a slight modification of their success as they finished 4th with 12 wins. The club also had the region's highest scoring match of the season as they defeated Grêmio Nhágar 6-3 on April 29.

Calheta started off the 2017-18 Premier Division season and sufferered a three match losing streak before a scoreless draw was made with Varandinha at home field. Calheta remains to be last place and is unknown that could be the relegation zone. Two more losses were followed before a win was made over GDR São Lourenço, alongside with the club relegated last season, the score was 2-3. Calheta has 5 points with a win and two draws. A scoreless draw with Scorpion Vermelho was next followed fove straight losses with their recent to Grémio Nhagar and remained last. Calheta finally made a win over AJAC on March 7 and their positions overturned to 9th place, but has 11 points sharing with AJAC along with their wins and losses, Calheta had 11 goals and 18 goals conceded, a seven difference while AJAC had nine differing. Calheta recently suffered a loss to Nhagar and remained last and had the fewest wins (three), points and goals (11) in the region, increased a possible relegation into the Second Division. Calheta made a 1-0 win over São Lourenço and got 14 points, then a loss, 2-0 to Scorpion Vermelho and is now 50/50 from being relegated next season with one more match to go and will face Estrelas dos Amadores.
