Dewathang Gewog (Dzongkha: དབེ་བ་ཐང་) is a gewog (village block) of Samdrup Jongkhar District, Bhutan. Dewathang literally means "flat area of happiness". Dewathang is significant due to historical events associated with the area during British rule in India in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The military cantonment was strategically important for theBhutanese army to conduct operation flush out (of Indian Militant Groups such as ULFA, KLO and Bodo) in December 2003.^[1]

Dzongkha, or Bhutanese, is a Sino-Tibetan language spoken by over half a million people in Bhutan; it is the sole official and national language of the Kingdom of Bhutan. The Tibetan alphabet is used to write Dzongkha.

Samdrup Jongkhar District is one of the 20 dzongkhags (districts) comprising Bhutan. The dominant languages of the district are Tshangla (Sharchopkha) in the north and west, and Nepali in the east.

Bhutan, officially the Kingdom of Bhutan, is a landlocked country in South Asia. Located in the Eastern Himalayas, it is bordered by Tibet Autonomous Region of China in the north, the Sikkim state of India and the Chumbi Valley of Tibet in the west, the Arunachal Pradesh state of India in the east, and the states of Assam and West Bengal in the south. Bhutan is geopolitically in South Asia and is the region's second least populous nation after the Maldives. Thimphu is its capital and largest city, while Phuntsholing is its financial center.

Deothang, also known as Dewathang, is a town in south-eastern Bhutan which falls under Samdrup Jongkhar District. In 2010 it became part of Samdrup Jongkhar municipality (thromde).

Bakuli Gewog was a gewog of Samdrup Jongkhar District, Bhutan. It also formed part of Bhangtar Dungkhag, along with Martshala and Dalim and Samrang Guewogs.

Samrang Gewog is a gewog of Samdrup Jongkhar District, Bhutan. They also comprise part of Bhangtar Dungkhag, along with Martshala Gewog.

Gomdar Gewog is a gewog of Samdrup Jongkhar District, Bhutan.

Hastinapur Gewog is a former gewog of Samdrup Jongkhar District, Bhutan.

Lauri Gewog is a gewog of Samdrup Jongkhar District, Bhutan. It was also part of Jomotsangkha Dungkhag (sub-district), together with Serthi Gewog.

Martshala Gewog is a gewog of Samdrup Jongkhar District, Bhutan. It also composed part of Bhangtar Dungkhag, along with Dalim and Samrang Gewogs

Orong Gewog is a gewog of Samdrup Jongkhar District, Bhutan. It is situated north of Samdrup Jongkhar town. The gewog is about 45 km from Samdrup Jongkhar with a 12 km farm road bifurcating from the national highway which connects Samdrup Jongkhar and Trashigang District.

A thromde is a second-level administrative division in Bhutan. The legal administrative status of thromdes was most recently codified under the Local Government Act of 2009, and the role of thromdes in elections in Bhutan was defined in the Election Act of 2008

Langchenphu Gewog is a gewog of Samdrup Jongkhar District, Bhutan.

Serthi Gewog is a gewog of Samdrup Jongkhar District, Bhutan.

Phuntshothang Gewog is a gewog of Samdrup Jongkhar District, Bhutan. Phuntshothang and Pemathang Gewogs comprise Samdrup Choling Dungkhag (sub-district).

Pemathang Gewog is a gewog of Samdrup Jongkhar District, Bhutan. Pemathang and Phuntshothang Gewogs comprise Samdrup Choling Dungkhag (sub-district).

Wangphu Gewog is a gewog of Samdrup Jongkhar District, Bhutan.

Ugyen Dorji is a Bhutanese politician who has been a member of the National Assembly of Bhutan, since October 2018.
