Dhodial (also known as Dhudial) is a town and union council located near Baffa between Mansehra and Shinkiari in Mansehra District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. [1] Dhodial is a fertile region known for its vegetables and tobacco crop. Dhodial is also well known for its pheasant conservation project. [2] The town was badly affected by the 2005 Pakistan earthquake.
Dhodial is north of Mansehra in Hazara area at an altitude of 3,267 feet 34°26′N73°16′E / 34.433°N 73.267°E . [3] The river Siren flows alongside the town.
This area is known for the treatment of mentally ill patients. Khan Khudadad Khan Swati established a National Psychiatric Health unit, called the "Government Mental & General Hospital" in Dhodial in the early 1960s. Its purpose was to treat patients with mental illness and to function as a general hospital. It had facilities for the treatment of mentally disabled patients, including physical and mental grooming. Mohammad Irfan was the initial medical superintendent and consultant psychiatrist. The government's other plans included the SOS Children's Villages and National Peasantry. This hospital became tuberculosis sanitorium Dadar when in 2002 Hazara University was formed in it.
The University of Hazara is situated in Dhodial and provides education to students throughout Mansehra District and the Hazara Region. Abdul Hanan Khan Malkal Swati of VC Malkal donated land for mental hospital which later converted into Hazara University.
The prominent political group is the Pakistan tehreek insaf which was led by Imran Khan. The Swatis that are in the majority are also politically strong and influential. As people are getting educated, political situation is improving and parties like PTI are emerging. Other political parties are the PML N Jamiat Ullamay e Islam, Jammat Islami Pakistan. Dhodial has three village councils: Village Council Malkal, Arghoshal and Girwal. The largest is VC Malkal.
The people of Dhodial practice conservation and captive breeding of various species of peasants. Dhodial Pheasantry, Asia's largest peasantry, is located near the village.
Dhodial is part of Upper Pakhli which is homeland to Gabri Swatis. Dhodial is inhabited by two out of 7 subsections of Gabris i.e Arghushal Swatis and Malkal Swatis. Some other tribes also live in minority here but the 95% lands of Dhodial belongs to Swatis. According to Hazara Gazetteer 1883, Dhodial was given to Arghushal family and Malkal family in Nemkai division of Pakhli-1703. Sharifullah Khan Swati was the most prominent Jageerdar of Dhodial during British rule.

Shinkiari is a Union Council of Mansehra District in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. It is a major tea city with many tea gardens. The police station was established before the Partition of India. At that time, Baffa was a police chowki of Shinkiari Police Station and the second police chowki was in Battal. Both chowkies have now become police stations while historically with poor political background Shinkiari is still a police station instead of a tehsil of Mansehra District. Most of the people are from the Swati Pashtun and Gujjar tribes, speaking Pashto and Hindko.

It is located in Balakot Tehsil and lies to the east of district capital Mansehra, towards the Kashmir frontier. It was affected by the 2005 Kashmir earthquake. Garhi Habibullah is basically divided into 5 separate Khanates. 1) Khanate of Samundar Khan Khankhail Swati, Khanate of Habib Khan Jehangiri Swati, Khanate of Ameen Khan Jehangiri Swati, Khanate of Hassan Ali Khan Arghushal Swati and Khanate of Behram Khan Sarkheli Swati.
Karnol is a village and union council of Mansehra District in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. It is located at an altitude of 797 metres (2618 feet) lying in the south east of the district near to Abbottabad and the Kashmir frontier and lies in an area affected by the 2005 Kashmir earthquake. Ameer-Ullah Khan the elder son of Habibullah Khan I and grandson of Sa'adat Khan who was the first ruler of pakhli (1762-1780) under Durrani Empire & nominal Chief of Swatis founded this village.

Dhodial Pheasantry is a pheasantry and breeding center for several species of pheasants situated in Mansehra District, Pakistan. It has been set up for the purposes of research, conservation, tourism, and education. The pheasantry has around 250 exhibits providing shelter to around 4,000 birds.
Chaudhary Aslam Khan Swati was a Pakistani police officer. From 2005 to 2014 Aslam arrested and killed terrorists, gangwar-criminals, target killers and extortionists belonging to the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), TMP, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LJ), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan (SSP). On 9 January 2014, he was killed in a bomb blast carried out by the TTP.

Babar Saleem Khan Swati is a Pakistani politician and landlord who is the Speaker of the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since 29 February, 2024. He is member of the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from the constituency PK -37 Mansehra -II. Previously, he was a member of the Provincial Assembly from 2018 to 2022 and served as Advisor to the Chief Minister on Home and Tribal Affairs from October 2022 till January 2023. He belongs to the Jehangiri family within the Swati tribe of Mansehra.
