Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University, Srikakulam is a state university located in Etcherla, Srikakulam district, Andhra Pradesh, India. It was established in 2008 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The university is named after B. R. Ambedkar.

History

The Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Srikakulam was established by the Government of Andhra Pradesh in 2008. The university was given control of the Andhra University campus in Etcherla and all its affiliated colleges in Srikakulam. The first Vice-Chancellor (VC) was S.V. Sudhakar, followed by H. Lajipathi Rai in 2013. [2] Nimma Venkata Rao was appointed VC in January 2021. [3]

Telaga is a land-owning agrarian community primarily found in the Coastal Andhra region of India. Telaga is a subcaste of the Kapu community, with both terms often used interchangeably. They are classified as a Forward caste. Historically, they were a warrior caste known for their honour and bravery.

The Statue of Social Justice also known as the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Smriti Vanam, is a 206-ft tall statue located in Vijayawada in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The memorial dedicated to B. R. Ambedkar, an Indian polymath, statesman, social reformer and the father of the Indian Constitution. This Ambedkar's statue is 206 feet (63 m) tall and stands on an 81 feet (25 m) tall base building, making its total height 206 feet (63 m). It is the fourth tallest statues in India.

Gunda Lakshmi Devi is an Indian politician from the state of Andhra Pradesh. She is a former member of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly representing Srikakulam Assembly constituency from 2014 to 2019. She was denied a ticket from TDP to contest the 2024 Assembly Election. Following the decision of the Party, her followers burnt the flags and literature of TDP. She said she would contest as an independent candidate.
