The native range of this species is from Bangladesh, through Indo-China and Malesia to northern Australia. [1] In Vietnam the plant may be called phất dủ lá hẹp. [4]
Dracaena angustifolia is a shrub, up to 3 m high, with leaves 150-250 x 20-30 mm wide. The yellowish flowers are about 20 mm long. [4]
The leaves of this plant are used as a natural green food colourant. [5]
