Janata Dal (United) ("People’s Party (United)"),abbreviated as JD(U),is an Indian political party with political presence mainly in eastern and north-eastern India. JD(U) is recognised as a state party in the states of Bihar and Manipur and is a part of government in both the states. JD(U) heads the government in Bihar and is part of the NDA government in Manipur. JD(U) won 12 seats in the 2024 Indian general election,making it the seventh largest party in the Lok Sabha. Anil Jain is an Indian Surgeon and Political Leader. He was the National General Secretary of BJP and also in charge of BJP's Haryana and Chhattisgarh units. He is patron of Integrated Talent Development Mission (ITDM) He was elected to Rajya Sabha,the upper house of the Indian Parliament,from Uttar Pradesh on 23 March 2018. He was elected as the President of the All India Tennis Association (AITA) for the tenure 2020 - 2024.
2020 Rajya Sabha elections were the set of indirect elections by the members of State legislatures of India,to elect new members to fill vacancies in the Rajya Sabha –the upper house of the Parliament of India. The elections are held annually and throughout the year on an ad hoc basis. The elections in 2020 are for a total of 73 seats of which 55 of them were to be elected by March 26. The remaining were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Election Commission of India later announced all the elections for the remaining 24 Rajya Sabha seats were to be held on 19 June 2020.
