Earl J. Harris Jr. is an American politician serving as a member of the Indiana House of Representatives from the 2nd district. He assumed office on November 9,2016.
Harris is a native of East Chicago,Indiana. [1] He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in telecommunications from Indiana University Bloomington and a Master of Arts in telecommunications and digital storytelling from Ball State University. [2]
Harris worked as a programming producer for Fox Sports Midwest and PBS. He was also the president of the Educational Television Cooperative before founding Motivation Media,a company that produces marketing and communication materials. Harris was elected to the Indiana House of Representatives in November 2016. He also serves as assistant Democratic floor leader and vice chair of the Indiana Black Legislative Caucus. [3] [4]
Peter John Visclosky is an American politician who served as the U.S. representative for Indiana's 1st congressional district from 1985 until his retirement in 2021. He is a member of the Democratic Party and was the dean of the Indiana congressional delegation before his retirement in 2021. The District lies in Northwest Indiana,and includes most of the Indiana side of the Chicago metropolitan area. Redistricting passed by the Indiana General Assembly in 2011 changed the district's boundaries,effective January 2013,to include all of Lake and Porter counties as well as the western and northwestern townships of LaPorte County,while shifting Benton,Newton,and Jasper counties out of the district.
