Edward DeLaney is an American politician from the state of Indiana. [1] He is a Democratic member of the Indiana House of Representatives,representing the 86th District since 2009.
DeLaney has a B.A. and an M.A. from Binghamton University. After serving his country as an officer in the Navy,Ed graduated from Harvard Law School with honors in 1973 and began work in Indianapolis at the firm of Barnes,Hickam,Pantzer &Boyd—now known as Barnes &Thornburg.
DeLaney has advocated for businesses and individuals in matters ranging from estate litigation,access to records litigation,business disputes,election law and First Amendment rights. DeLaney was the founding lawyer for Investigative Reporters &Editors,Inc. which is now an international organization with thousands of members. For several years,DeLaney has been an adjunct faculty member at Indiana University School of Law in Bloomington. He currently is a partner in the law firm of DeLaney &DeLaney with his wife Ann and his daughter Kathleen.
DeLaney has represented the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in an arbitration hearing under the Dayton Peace Accords. [2] He speaks Russian fluently. He has been an election monitor for the International Republican Institute in Russia. For some 25 years,DeLaney has trained both groups and individuals in the skills of being an advocate. His experience has been recognized by the Best Lawyers in America and the Indiana Super Lawyers.
DeLaney served former Governor Evan Bayh as Chair of the Indiana Development Finance Authority from 1990 to 1996. He has been a member of the Indianapolis Police Merit Board and the Indianapolis Bar Association on its Judicial Evaluation Committee. The DeLaneys are parishioners at St. Thomas Aquinas where Ed served as President of the Parish Council and was a member of the capital campaign committee.
On November 6,2012,Delaney won reelection by defeating Republican Luke Bosso 60 to 40 percent.
DeLaney and Ann married in 1967 and have three adult children:Kathleen,with whom they practice law;Jennifer,a physician in St. Louis;and Tim,who works in the Marion County Prosecutor's office. They have seven grandchildren:Emma,Miranda,Kevin,Aidan,John,Owen and Cormac.
Thomas Andrews Hendricks was an American politician and lawyer from Indiana who served as the 16th governor of Indiana from 1873 to 1877 and the 21st vice president of the United States from March until his death in November 1885. Hendricks represented Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives (1851–1855) and the U.S. Senate (1863–1869). He also represented Shelby County,Indiana,in the Indiana General Assembly (1848–1850) and as a delegate to the 1851 Indiana constitutional convention. In addition,Hendricks served as commissioner of the United States General Land Office (1855–1859). Hendricks,a popular member of the Democratic Party,was a fiscal conservative. He defended the Democratic position in the U.S. Senate during the American Civil War and Reconstruction era and voted against the Thirteenth,Fourteenth,and Fifteenth Amendments to the U.S. Constitution. He also opposed Radical Reconstruction and President Andrew Johnson's removal from office following Johnson's impeachment in the U.S. House.

Brian C. Bosma is an American politician and lawyer who served as speaker of the Indiana House of Representatives from 2004 to 2006 and 2010 to 2020. A member of the Republican Party,Bosma has served in the Indiana House since 1986. He replaced Gordon Harper. He was originally elected in the 50th district,but was redistricted to the 88th district in 1992. The 88th district encompasses northeast Marion County and portions of Hancock and Hamilton County.
Albert Gallatin Porter was an American politician who served as the 19th governor of Indiana from 1881 to 1885 and as a United States Congressman from 1859 to 1863. Originally a Democrat,he joined the Republican Party in 1856 after being expelled by the pro-slavery faction of the Democratic Party. Only the second person born in Indiana to become the state's governor,he reluctantly accepted his party's nomination to run. His term saw the start of Indiana's industrialization that continued for several decades. Augustus Everett Willson was an American politician and the 36th Governor of Kentucky. Orphaned at the age of twelve,Willson went to live with relatives in New England. This move exposed him to such authors as Ralph Waldo Emerson,Henry Wadsworth Longfellow,Oliver Wendell Holmes,and James Russell Lowell,who were associates of his older brother,poet Forceythe Willson. Virginia Dill McCarty was an American lawyer who served as the U.S. Attorney for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana from 1977 to 1981,and became the first woman to be appointed and serve a full,four-year term as U.S. Attorney. McCarty's career as a public servant in Indiana also worked as a deputy attorney general and assistant attorney general for the State of Indiana (1964–1969),a member of the Indiana Board of Law Examiners (1971–1976),chief counsel to the Marion County,Indiana,Prosecutor (1975–1976),and chairman of the Board for the Indiana Department of Correction (1989–2006). In addition,McCarty co-founded the Indiana Women's Political Caucus and the Greater Indianapolis Women's Political Caucus in 1971 and served as the first president of each organization. As an advocate for women's equality and increasing women's roles in politics and government,McCarty was also involved in the campaign to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment in Indiana in 1977.
Michael Stephen Wilensky is a politician and attorney who lives in Dunwoody,Georgia. A member of the Democratic Party,he represented District 79 in the Georgia House of Representatives,which is 100% in Dekalb County. State House District 79 consists of all of Dunwoody,part of Doraville,and a small piece of Chamblee. Wilensky defeated the Republican Party opponent,Ken Wright,on November 6,2018. Wilensky won his second election in 2020 and served a second term. In February 2022,Wilensky decided not to run for reelection.
The 2022 elections for the Indiana House of Representatives took place on Tuesday November 8,2022,to elect representatives from all 100 districts in the Indiana House of Representatives. The primary election took place on Tuesday May 3,2022. The Republican Party had held a House majority since 2011.
