Kokomo is a city in and the county seat of Howard County,Indiana,United States. Its population was 59,604 at the 2020 census. It is the principal city of the Kokomo metropolitan area,which includes all of Howard County,and it is the largest city and regional center for the North Central Indiana region consisting of ~225,000 people across six counties anchored by the city of Kokomo. The city is located approximately 60 miles (97 km) north of Indianapolis and 85 miles (137 km) south of South Bend,Indiana.

The Fat Slags is a British comic strip appearing in the alternative British comic Viz. The characters made their debut in 1989,their first appearance being in issue 36. The eponymous slags are Sandra Burke and Tracey Tunstall,known to other characters as San and Tray. They are depicted as overweight,eating large amounts of food,mainly chips,while also having a lot of casual sex. As with other Viz strips,the strip's authors use a brash writing style. "Slag" is a British English word for "slut",or loose woman.
The 2012 Indiana gubernatorial election took place on November 6,2012. Incumbent governor Mitch Daniels was term-limited and unable to seek a third term. The Republican candidate,Congressman Mike Pence;the Democratic candidate,former Speaker of the Indiana House of Representatives John R. Gregg;and the Libertarian candidate,youth mentor,small business owner and reality TV personality,Rupert Boneham,were all unopposed in their respective primaries or conventions and contested the general election. This is the first open Indiana gubernatorial election since 1996 and the first gubernatorial election since 1972 without the governor or lieutenant governor as a nominee.
David Slagger is a Native American politician in Maine. Slagger served as a member of the Maine House of Representatives,representing the newly recognized Maliseet Tribe. Slagger was sworn-in as the appointed representative to the House of Representatives on January 4,2012. He held the seat temporarily until a tribal election could be conducted to elect a Maliseet Tribal Representative,which the Maliseet Tribe then did on December 22,2012 when tribal members elected Henry John Bear as their first elected Tribal Representative to the Maine House of Representatives. Slagger did not seek another term as Maliseet representative.
The 2016 Indiana gubernatorial election was held on November 8,2016,to elect the governor and lieutenant governor of Indiana,concurrently with the 2016 U.S. presidential election as well as elections to the United States Senate and elections to the United States House of Representatives and various state and local elections. The primaries were held on May 3,2016. Republican lieutenant governor Eric Holcomb won the race with 51.4% of the vote.
On April 4,2015,Walter Scott,a 50-year-old black man,was fatally shot by Michael Slager,a local police officer in North Charleston,South Carolina,United States. Slager had stopped Scott for a non-functioning brake light. Slager was charged with murder after a video surfaced showing him shooting Scott from behind while Scott was fleeing,which contradicted Slager's report of the incident. The racial difference led many to believe that the shooting was racially motivated,generating a widespread controversy.

Kemondo Iron Age Sites or KM2 and KM3 are Early Iron Age complex industrial archaeological sites in Kemondo ward,Bukoba Rural District,Kagera Region,Tanzania,excavated by a team led by archaeologist Peter Schmid in the late 1970s and 1980s. The excavations aimed at better understanding the iron smelting process and its ritual aspects in East Africa. At the KM2 and KM3 sites,Schmidt tested the hypothesis that the high combustion temperature of furnaces,discovered to be between 1,350–1,400 °C (2,460–2,550 °F),was caused by the preheating of air blasts. Preheating has been suggested to be a distinct feature of African Early Iron Age smelting techniques by ethnographic observations of the Haya people of northwestern Tanzania.
