Todd Huston is an American politician serving as the current Speaker of the Indiana House of Representatives. A member of the Republican Party,Huston has represented the 37th district of the Indiana House since 2012. [1] He previously served on the Hamilton Southeastern School Board from 2002 to 2005,the Indiana State Board of Education from 2005 to 2009,and the Indiana Education Roundtable from 2006 to 2009. [2] He also served as Chair of the Indiana Charter School Board from 2011 to 2012. [2] Huston was elected to succeed Brian Bosma as Speaker on March 9,2020. [3] [4]
Huston was a senior vice president at the College Board from 2012 until February 2022. [3] He resigned from the post amid criticism of his position opposing critical race theory. [5] [6]
Brian C. Bosma is an American politician and lawyer who served as speaker of the Indiana House of Representatives from 2004 to 2006 and 2010 to 2020. A member of the Republican Party,Bosma has served in the Indiana House since 1986. He replaced Gordon Harper. He was originally elected in the 50th district,but was redistricted to the 88th district in 1992. The 88th district encompasses northeast Marion County and portions of Hancock and Hamilton County.

The 2011 Legislative Walkout in Indiana occurred during February and March when the Democratic minority,inspired by the 2011 Wisconsin protests,fled the state to deny the Indiana House of Representatives quorum needed to pass a controversial right-to-work bill,which would have removed the legal requirement that employees pay union dues. The walkout lasted nearly six weeks,and the majority responded by fining the missing members and withholding their pay. The walkout ended after the majority agreed to table three bills,including the one that sparked the walkout,from the agenda.
