Karla J. Lems is an American politician. She has served as a member of the South Dakota House of Representatives from the 16th district since 2023, alongside Kevin Jensen. [1] She is a member of the Republican Party. [2]

Thomas Marking ran as an Independent candidate. In the general election, Noem defeated Herseth Sandlin, winning 48.1 percent of the vote to 45.9 percent for Herseth Sandlin.
