Effia is one of the constituencies represented in the Parliament of Ghana. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election. Sekondi is located in the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly of the Western Region of Ghana. [1]

Papa Owusu-Ankomah is a Ghanaian lawyer and politician. He is a member of the New Patriotic Party. He served as Member of Parliament for the Sekondi constituency from 1996 to 2016. In June 2017 Papa Owusu-Ankomah was appointed Ghana's High Commissioner to the UK and Ireland. His tour of duty ended on 30 November 2020 but was re-appointed to the same position in 2021 and is High Commissioner to date. He met the Queen Elizabeth II when he was presenting his Letters of Credence at the Buckingham Palace in London.

The Sekondi Nurses Training College is public tertiary health institution in the Sekondi in the Western Region of Ghana. The college is in the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly. The school is located at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital. The activities of the institution is supervised by the Ministry of Education. The University of Ghana awards a Diploma in Nursing after students from the institution have successfully completed a three-year nursing training programme. The institution is accredited by the National Accreditation Board. The Nurses and Midwifery Council is the regulates the activities, curriculum and examination of the. The council's mandate Is enshrined under section 4(1) of N.R.C.D. 117.

Gifty Eugenia Kusi (nee Kwofie) (born 11 February 1958) is a Ghanaian politician. She was the member of the Fourth parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana to the Tarkwa-Nsuaem (Ghana parliament constituency) from 2001 to 2017. She is also the principal research assistant in the department of Community Health at the University of Ghana Medical School-Korle-Bu.

Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal District is one of the fourteen districts in Western Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan District on 29 February 2008, until the western part of the district was split off to create Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal District on 15 March 2018; thus the remaining part has been retained as Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan District. The municipality is located in the southeast part of Western Region and has Kwesimintsim as its capital town.

Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital is one of the ten regional hospitals of Ghana located in the Western Region. It is a secondary health facility which also receives referrals from the Western corridor of Ghana. It was established in 1938 as military hospital by the Gold Coast government. The hospital, known for its excellent services in various specialties, is located in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis and provides a peaceful, healing-friendly environment.
