Electrentomidae is an extinct family of barklice, booklice, and parasitic lice in the order Psocodea. There are about six genera and seven described species in Electrentomidae. [1] [2] [3] [4] The family was synonymsed with the extant family Manicapsocidae in 2003 without discussion, with a prior proposal in 1972, but Azar et al., 2017, stated that "we consider herein [Electrentomidae and Manicapsocidae] apart, because a cladistic phylogenetic analysis is needed prior to taking such important decision for these groups." Psychodidae Family of flies

Psychodidae, called drain flies, sink flies, filter flies, sewer flies, or sewer gnats, is a family of true flies. Some genera have short, hairy bodies and wings giving them a "furry" moth-like appearance, hence one of their common names, moth flies. Members of the sub-family Phlebotominae which are hematophagous may be called sand flies in some countries, although this term is also used for other unrelated flies.

Trogiomorpha Group of booklice

Trogiomorpha is one of the three major suborders of barklice, booklice, and parasitic lice in the order Psocodea, alongside Troctomorpha and Psocomorpha. There are about 8 families and more than 430 described species in Trogiomorpha. Trogiomorpha is widely agreed to be earliest diverging of the three suborders, and retains the most primitive characteristics.

Troctomorpha Suborder of booklice

Troctomorpha is one of the three major suborders of Psocodea (barklice, booklice, and parasitic lice), alongside Psocomorpha and Trogiomorpha. There are more than 30 families and 5,800 described species in Troctomorpha. The order includes parasitic lice, which are most closely related to the booklice family Liposcelididae.

Piesmatidae Family of insects

Piesmatidae is a small family of true bugs, commonly called ash-grey leaf bugs. The Piesmatidae are distributed mostly in the temperate Northern Hemisphere, with some occurring in Africa, Australia and South America. A common species found throughout the Americas is Piesma cinereum.

Kateretidae Family of beetles

Kateretidae is a family of short-winged flower beetles in the suborder Polyphaga. There are about 11 genera and at least 40 described species in Kateretidae. They are found worldwide except in New Zealand. Adults are anthophagous, feeding on flowers, while the larvae are spermatophagous inside the flower corolla.

Salpingidae Family of beetles

Salpingidae or narrow-waisted bark beetles is a family of beetles, in the large suborder Polyphaga. The species are small, about 1.5 – 7 mm in length. This family is worldwide distributed and consists of about 45 genera and 300 species.

Prionoglarididae is a family of the order Psocodea that are barklice characterized by the reduction or simplification of the lacinia in adults and the specialised form of the male genitalia. It contains the only known genus of animals, Neotrogla, where females possess a penis-like organ and take on typical male sex roles.

Psyllipsocidae Family of booklice

Psyllipsocidae is a family of cave barklice in the order Psocodea. There are about 7 genera and more than 70 described species in Psyllipsocidae.

Psoquillidae is a family of bird nest barklice in the order Psocodea. There are about 8 genera and more than 30 described species in Psoquillidae.

Trogiidae Family of booklice

Trogiidae is a family of granary booklice in the order Psocodea. There are about 11 genera and more than 50 described species in Trogiidae.

Thylacella cubana is a species of scaly-winged barklouse in the family Lepidopsocidae. It is found in the Caribbean Sea, Central America, and North America.

Thylacella is a genus of scaly-winged barklice in the family Lepidopsocidae. There are at least 20 described species in Thylacella.

Thaumastocoridae Family of true bugs

Thaumastocoridae is a family of true bugs in the order Hemiptera. There are about 9 genera and more than 20 described species in the family Thaumastocoridae.

Manicapsocidae is a family of Psocodea. It contains 8 extant species in 4 genera, with most of the species being found in the Neotropics, with one species in the Afrotropics. The extinct family Electrentomidae has been suggested to be a synonym of this family, though this has been considered premature by other scholars in the absence of cladistic analysis. Confirmed fossil species of the family are nearly as numerous as living ones, extending back to the Mid-Cretaceous.

Empheriidae is an extinct family of Psocoptera in the suborder Trogiomorpha.
