Femina Miss India 2023 was the 59th edition of the Femina Miss India beauty pageant. After a two-year hiatus, it was held on 15 April 2023 at Imphal, Manipur, with contestants from 29 states (including Delhi) and a collective representative for all Union Territories adding up to 30 participants competed for the title. At the end of the event, Sini Shetty of Karnataka crowned Nandini Gupta of Rajasthan as her successor, who will represent India at Miss World 2025. Rubal Shekhawat of Rajasthan, crowned Shreya Poonja of Delhi as the first runner-up and Shinata Chauhan of Uttar Pradesh crowned Strela Thounaojam Luwang of Manipur as the second runner-up.

Manipur hosted the grand finale of Femina Miss India 2023 in April 2023; this marked the first time the pageant was held outside Mumbai since 2002. In the presence of Manipur's Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, and Times of India Managing Director Vineet Jain at the CM's Secretariat in Imphal, an agreement to formalise the cooperation was signed between the Tourism Department, Government of Manipur, and the Times Group. MP Leishemba Sanajaoba, ministers Yumnam Khemchand Singh, Govindas Konthoujam, Awangbow Newmai, Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh, H Dingko Singh, Leishangthem Susindro Meitei, MLA Losii Dikho, Chief Secretary Rajesh Kumar, and Rohit Gopakumar, Chief Operational Officer, Miss India Organisation, were also present. After two years of online pageant operations, from registration to auditions, Femina Miss India 2023 was held entirely offline. Contestants from all over the country auditioned in front of a panel of experts in a venue chosen for the zonal division. Following the audition, the organization's social media account revealed the state finalists, from which the 29 state representatives were chosen, in addition to a collective representative for the Union Territories. These 30 finalists went through rigorous training and grooming activities. Furthermore, former Miss India and Bollywood actress Neha Dhupia was a mentor to the state delegates.
The 30 state representatives arrived at Imphal International Airport on April 7, 2023. [5] They were received by crowning all of them with a Kajenglei (traditional Meitei female headdress) each and Leirum Lengyan (traditional Meitei shawl) each. [6] On 9 April, they visited the historic Kangla Fort located in the heart of Imphal city, where they were photographed and had videos shot for the pageant. During the shoot, the contestants were photographed at the temples (including the Pakhangba Temple, Kangla), fort ruins and the twin Kanglasha dragon statues. [7] They attended a self defense session organised exclusively for them at the Khuman Lampak Main Stadium. [8]
On 10 April, the state representatives visited the Loktak lake for their filming. [9] After that, they visited the Indian National Army Memorial Complex (INA Memorial) in Moirang. They also visited the Little Flower School, Imphal where they interacted with the students. [10] [11] At the end of the day, the ladies visited the Ima Keithel ( Meitei for ' Ima Market '), [12] [11] in the heart of Imphal, which is the world's only market run exclusively by women. [13]

Imphal is the capital city of the Indian state of Manipur. It is the third largest city in northeast India after Guwahati and Agartala. The metropolitan centre of the city contains the ruins of Kangla Palace, the royal seat of the former Kingdom of Manipur, surrounded by a moat. Spread over parts of the districts of Imphal West and Imphal East, the former contains the majority of the city's area and population. Imphal is part of the Smart Cities Mission under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. Being a mega commercial hub, Imphal is known for its weaving, brass-ware, bronze-ware, and other cottage industries. Meitei language is the most widely spoken language in the city.
Leimarel Sidabi or Leimalel Sitapi is a goddess in Sanamahism, the indigenous religion of Manipur. She is the highest female divinity in the Meitei pantheon. She is the goddess of earth, of nature and the household. She is revered as the mother of every living being in the universe.
The Ima Market, also known as the Nupi Keithel or the Khwairamband Keithel, is a women-only market in the middle of Imphal in the Indian state of Manipur. It is the only market in the world run entirely by women. Inside the market, male shopkeepers and vendors are not allowed to sell anything. The Government of Manipur has announced that the male shopkeepers and vendors will be punished if their shops and vendors are found inside the market. It is a commercial center and a popular tourist attraction in the state of Manipur. It was established in the 16th century and hosts around 5,000–6,000 women vendors who sell a variety of products. Products such as vegetables, fruits, textiles, toys, fish, spices and utensils are available in the market. It is the largest all–women market in Asia.
Femina Miss Manipur Queen or Miss India Manipur Queen is an annual beauty pageant that selects representatives from Manipur to compete in Miss India, and then to Miss World, one of the Big Four international beauty pageants. The event is organised by "Robert Naorem Studio and Academy", under the guidance of Robert Naorem. It is one of the most watched beauty pageants in North East India. It co-exists with Miss Manipur, Miss Kangleipak and Miss Meetei Chanu.
Miss Meetei Chanu or Miss Meitei Chanu is an international annual beauty pageant that is run by the Manipur based Lainingthou Sanamahi Sana Pung (LSSP). The event aims to make Meitei women understand the culture and tradition of Sanamahism. It is one of the most watched beauty pageants in North East India. It co-exists with Miss Manipur, Femina Miss India Manipur and Miss Kangleipak.

The Statue of Meidingu Nara Singh, also known as the Statue of Maharaja Narasingh, is a bronze sculpture located at the Kangla Sanathong, the western entrance gate to the Kangla Fort in Imphal. Meidingu Nara Singh was a Meitei monarch and the sovereign of Kangleipak.
The Manung Kangjeibung is an old polo field located to the south west of the citadel inside the Kangla Fort in Imphal West district of Manipur. In ancient times, only royalties and nobilities were allowed to play the game of polo in this royal playground. It is one of the two most ancient pologrounds in the world, the other one being the Mapal Kangjeibung .
There are three notable museums inside the Kangla Fort in Imphal West district of Kangleipak, which are the Kangla Museum, the Archaeological Museum and the Memento Museum. Some people also count the Hijagang as a museum.
Kangla Nongpok Torban or Eastern Bank of the Kangla is a riverside recreation area, on the eastern bank of the Imphal River in Imphal, Manipur, India. It was developed under the aegis of Imphal Smart City Limited. With the length of approximately 700 metres (2,300 ft), it covers its area from the Sanjenthong Bridge in the South to the Nongpok Thong of Kangla Fort in the North.

In Meitei mythology and Sanamahism, the indigenous religion of Manipur, Kanglā shā is a sacred guardian beast with a lion's body and a two-horned dragon's head. It is a royal symbol of the Meitei royalties . The most remarkable statues dedicated to "Kangla Sa" stand inside the Kangla.
The Kangla Nongpok Thong, shortly known as the Nongpok Thong, is the Eastern Gate Bridge of the Kangla Fort of Imphal, Kangleipak . With the re-opening of the modern Eastern Gate of the Kangla, the Kangla Western Gate was closed forever, under the leadership of Nongthombam Biren, the then Chief Minister of Manipur, due to the traditional Meitei belief that the western gate is regarded as the gate of the dead and it is ominous to enter the Kangla through the western doorway.
The Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board (LSTB) is a temple development board of the Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple, Haying Khongban Uphong Yumpham, Imphal West district of Kangleipak (Meitei for 'Manipur'). It is dedicated not only to God Lainingthou Sanamahi and Goddess Leimarel Sidabi of Sanamahism, but also to the other ancient Meitei gods and goddesses of the traditional Meitei religion.
The Lainingthou Sanna Mahee Sanna Pung, Kangleipak, also known as the Lainingthou Sanamahi Sanapung (LSSP), is a non-governmental organization of the followers of the Sanamahism, dedicated to God Lainingthou Sanamahi and other ancient Meitei deities of Kangleipak.
Thounaojam Strela Luwang is an Indian television anchor, social activist, model and beauty pageant title holder who was crowned second runner up at Femina Miss India 2023. She represented her state Manipur at Femina Miss India 2023 after winning Femina Miss India Manipur 2023. She won Miss Manipur pageant held in 2017. She was also one of the top five finalists at the Miss Diva Northeast 2016-17. She was featured in 2018 educational film, Who Said Boys Can't Wear Makeup? directed by Priyakanta Laishram, which was the first-ever Indian film on gender-neutral fashion and men's make-up.

She was the winner of the "Graceful Walk" title in the Miss Spring contest in the second edition of Shirui Lily Festival. Danube represents her state Manipur in the Miss Universe India 2024 beauty pageant and won Best National Costume.
