"Fighter" is a song by Israeli-Luxembourgish singer-songwriter Tali Golergant,written by Ana Zimmer,Dario Faini,Manon Romiti,and Silvio Lisbonne. It was released on 12 January 2024 by Bel Air Records. Self-described as a song about how humans suffer and persevere through struggles,the song represented Luxembourg in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 –the first Luxembourgish entry in the contest in over 30 years,with the country last competing in 1993. At the contest,it finished in 13th place at the grand final with 103 points.
"Fighter" is composed by Ana Zimmer,Dario Faini,and Manon Romiti,with lyrics for the song written by Zimmer,Romiti,and Silvio Lisbonne. [2] In interviews,Golergant has stated that the song is about how all humans suffer,and how people persevere through suffering,with Golergant in particular using her example of living in New York City and "going through so much rejection" within the music industry. According to Golergant,in the summer of 2023,she was notified of the national final and was convinced to compete after personal friends sent her information about the contest. [5] Golergant was officially announced to compete in the Luxembourg Song Contest on 11 December, [6] with the song premiering on 9 January 2024. [7] Two months later,after Golergant's victory in the contest,she revealed that the song would undergo a revamp ahead of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, [8] with the new version being recorded in Paris. [9] The revamped version of "Fighter" released on 29 March. [10]
Along with the release of the Eurovision version of "Fighter",an accompanying music video was released on the same day. [11] To further promote the song,Golergant announced her intent to participate in various Eurovision pre-parties throughout the month of April,including the London Eurovision Party 2024 [12] and Eurovision in Concert 2024. [13] She also released an acoustic recording of "Fighter" on the official Eurovision Song Contest YouTube channel on 24 April. [14]
"Fighter" has drawn mixed receptions since its release. In a Wiwibloggs review containing several reviews from several critics,the song was rated 6.4 out of 10 points, [15] earning 22nd out of the 37 songs competing in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 on the site's annual ranking. [16] Another review conducted by ESC Bubble that contained reviews from a combination of readers and juries rated the song 13th out of the 15 songs competing in the Eurovision semi-final "Fighter" was in. [17] Jon O'Brien,a writer for Vulture,ranked the song 18th overall,stating that while he thought the song would struggle in its hopes of qualifying to the Eurovision grand final,it had a "formulaic,if supremely catchy,ditty". [18] Scotsman writer Erin Adam also gave the song a favourable review,stating that while she thought the song was "dated",she also praised Golergant's vocal abilities,proceeding to rate the song seven out of 10 points. [19] ESC Beat's Doron Lahav ranked the song 13th overall,deeming the song "radio-friendly that doesn’t fall into the world of generic songs". [20]
On 12 May 2023, Luxembourgish broadcaster RTL officially announced that they would compete in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, marking the first bid for the country to enter the contest in 32 years, and 31 years since Luxembourg last competed. [21] RTL organized an eight-entry final, the Luxembourg Song Contest, to select its entrant for 2024. The edition was the first iteration of the contest. The final was held on 27 January 2024, with the final being separated into two rounds, with both rounds utilizing a 50/50 vote of juries and televoting. The top three in the final would move onto a superfinal. [22]
Golergant was officially announced to compete on 11 December, [6] with the song being released on 9 January. [7] The song was drawn to perform last out of the eight entries. [23] The performance featured Golergant in a black leather dress, surrounded by backing dancers. [24] After moving onto the superfinal, the song earned 94 points from the jury and 84 points from televoting for a combined total of 178 points in the superfinal, winning over second-place finisher, "Drowning In The Rain" by Krick, by 13 points. As a result of the victory, Golergant won the right to represent Luxembourg in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024. [25]
The Eurovision Song Contest 2024 took place at the Malmö Arena in Malmö, Sweden, and consisted of two semi-finals held on the respective dates of 7 and 9 May and the final on 11 May 2024. During the allocation draw on 30 January 2024, Luxembourg was drawn to compete in the first semi-final, performing in the second half of the show. [26] Golergant was later drawn to perform 15th and last in the semi-final, following Portugal's Iolanda. [27]
For her Eurovision performance, Ukrainian director German Nenov was appointed as the staging director. [28] The performance featured Golergant in a multi-colored dress along with five backing dancers in purple, red, and pink lighting. [29] The use of fireworks, fire, and smoke were all used. [30] LEDs were also implemented during the performance; a tiger colored in gold along with "colorful swirls" were shown. [29] "Fighter" finished in fifth, scoring 117 points and securing a position in the Eurovision grand final. [31]
Golergant performed a repeat of her performance in the grand final on 11 May. The song was performed fourth in the final, after Germany's Isaak and before Israel's Eden Golan. [32] After the results were announced, she finished in 13th with 103 points, with a split score of 83 points from juries and 20 points from televoting. [33] One set each of the maximum 12 points for both juries and televoting was given by Israel. [34]

Luxembourg has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 38 times since its debut at the first contest in 1956. The nation participated in all but one event between 1956 and 1993, only missing the 1959 contest. After finishing among the bottom seven countries in 1993, Luxembourg was relegated and prevented from competing in 1994. The nation did not return to the contest in 1995, and would make no further appearances over the next three decades. The country returned to the event for the first time in 31 years in 2024, qualifying for the final.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2016 was the 61st edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Stockholm, Sweden, following the country's victory at the 2015 contest with the song "Heroes" by Måns Zelmerlöw. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Sveriges Television (SVT), the contest was held at the Globe Arena and consisted of two semi-finals on 10 and 12 May, and a final on 14 May 2016. The three live shows were presented by Petra Mede and the previous year's winner Måns Zelmerlöw.
Georgia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 with the song "Keep the Faith" written by Anri Jokhadze and Tamara Gachechiladze. The song was performed by Tamara Gachechiladze, who was due to represent Georgia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 as part of Stephane and 3G with the song "We Don't Wanna Put In" before the nation's withdrawal in protest of the Russo-Georgian War. Songwriter Anri Jokhadze represented Georgia in the 2012 contest where he failed to qualify to the final with the song "I'm a Joker". The Georgian broadcaster Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) held a national final in order to select the Georgian entry for the 2017 contest in Kyiv, Ukraine. An open call for submissions was held which resulted in the submission of twenty-five entries that were presented to the public during a televised production on 20 January 2017. The results of a public televote combined with the votes of an international jury resulted in the selection of "Keep the Faith" performed by Tamara Gachechiladze as the Georgian entry.
Moldova participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 with the song "Hey Mamma" written by Anton Ragoza, Sergei Ialovitski, Sergey Stepanov, Mihail Cebotarenco and Alina Galetskaya. The song was performed by the group SunStroke Project. The Moldovan broadcaster TeleRadio-Moldova (TRM) organised the national final O melodie pentru Europa 2017 in order to select the Moldovan entry for the 2016 contest in Kyiv, Ukraine. 40 entries competed to represent Moldova in Kyiv, with 14 being shortlisted to participate in the televised national final after auditioning in front of a jury panel. After a semi-final and final which took place on 24 and 25 February 2017, "Hey Mamma" performed by SunStroke Project emerged as the winner after gaining the most points following the combination of votes from a jury panel and a public televote.
Austria participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Italy, with the song "Halo" written by Anders Nilsen, Gabriele Ponte, Luca Michlmayr, Rasmus Flyckt and Sophie Alexandra Tweed-Simmons. The song was performed by Lumix, which is the artistic name of DJ and producer Luca Michlmayr, featuring Pia Maria. On 8 February 2022, the Austrian broadcaster Österreichischer Rundfunk (ORF) announced that they had internally selected Lumix and Pia Maria to compete at the 2022 contest, while "Halo" was presented to the public on 11 March 2022.

"Titan" is a song by Albanian singer-songwriter Besa Kokëdhima. It was composed by Kokëdhima, Kledi Bahiti and Fabrice Grandjean, with lyrics by Gia Koka. Self-described as a ballad "with a lot of contrast", it represented Albania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, following the selection of the song's Albanian-language version "Zemrën n'dorë" at the 62nd edition of the music competition Festivali i Këngës. At Eurovision, it finished in 15th place with 14 points at semi final two.
"Liar" is a song by Australian singer Silia Kapsis, released on 29 February 2024 by K2ID Productions. Self-described as a song that derides "people who live in a fake world with a fake script", it was written by Dimitris Kontopoulos and Elke Tiel. The song represented Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, where it finished in 15th place with 78 points at the grand final.
"We Will Rave" is the major-label debut single by Austrian singer Marie-Sophie Kreissl, known by her stage name, Kaleen. It was released on 1 March 2024 by Warner Music Central Europe. Self-described as a "techno-inspired pop track", it was written by Anderz Wrethov, Jimmy Thörnfeldt, Julie Aagaard, and Thomas Stengaard. The song represented Austria in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, where it placed 24th with 24 points at the grand final.

"Hollow" is a song by Latvian singer-songwriter Dons. Originally released in Latvian under the title "Lauzto šķēpu karaļvalsts" on 11 September 2023, its English version was released on 2 January 2024 by Universal. The song was written by Dons, Kate Northrop, and Liam Geddes, and represented Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, where it placed 16 with 64 points. In the process, the song became the first Latvian entry to qualify for the grand final since 2016.
"Always on the Run" is a song by German singer-songwriter Isaak. It was written by Isaak, Kevin Lehr, Leo Jupiter, and Greg Taro, and jointly released on 19 January 2024 between Good Kid Records and Polydor Records. "Always on the Run" represented Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, where it finished in 12th place with 117 points.

"In the Middle" is a song by Moldovan singer Natalia Barbu. The song was written by Barbu and Khris Richards. It was released on 19 January 2024 by Ragoza Music. "In the Middle" represented Moldova in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, and finished in 13th place with 20 points during semi final 1.
"Ramonda" is a song by Serbian singer-songwriter Teodora Pavlovska, known by her stage name, Teya Dora. The song was released on 22 January 2024 by PGP-RTS and was written by Pavlovska, Luka Jovanović, and Andrijano Kadović. It represented Serbia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, where it placed 17th with 54 points.
"The Code" is a song by Swiss singer Nemo, released on 29 February 2024. It has been described by Nemo as a song that details their experience with coming to terms with their non-binary identity. They represented Switzerland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 with the song, where they won the contest with 591 points. "Özünlə apar" is a song by Azerbaijani singer Fahree featuring Ilkin Dovlatov. It was written by Fahree and four other writers, and was released on 15 March 2024 by Beat Music. "Özünlə apar" represented Azerbaijan in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024.
