As of the census [2] of 2000, there were 582 people, 194 households, and 155 families residing in the town. The population density was 18.9 people per square mile (7.3/km2). There were 221 housing units at an average density of 7.2 per square mile (2.8/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 98.80% White, 0.17% African American, 0.17% Pacific Islander, and 0.86% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.17% of the population.
There were 194 households, out of which 34.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.0% were married couples living together, 8.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 19.6% were non-families. 15.5% of all households were made up of individuals, and 4.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
